the power of KNIFE
Reaper Leviathan -> 125 hits with a Thermoblade -> dead (250 hits with a normal knife)
Ghost Leviathan -> 250 hits with a Thermoblade -> dead (500 hits with a normal knife)
Sea Dragon Leviathan -> 250 hits with a normal knife -> dead (thermoblade does almost no damage vs. heat resistant creatures)

Had to kill 1 of each because they came to close to my base/submarine, takes a few minutes to finish them off.

See the title of his/her thread.

I think that being a knife specialist was kinda the point.

I do find it interesting that s/he took 100 more slsashes to kill a Ghost. Supposedly, per on line resources, and statements I've seen here in the forum by code delvers, the adult reaper and the adult ghost have the same # of hit points.

I saw in a wiki article that the Reaper/Juvenile Ghost/Seadragon leviathan all have 5k health and the adult ghost has like 8k

I'm thinking perhaps the adult ghosts were specifically made harder because they're the ones guarding the game's edge

Other then that it would make no sense that the leviathan that is three times bigger then and eats reapers has the same amount of health as them

maybe ever since the hell hole closed up the sea dragon hasn't been getting food so it's gotten very frail and skinny, causing it to have less health
He already has the muscle power to shoot out a chemical flare as fast as a flaming arrow and can smack you into the wall all in 1400m deep water, imagine how much more deadly this thing would be if it ate and grew muscularly on a regular basis

Wait until OP discovers the power of gaspods.

Actually, wiki says:
Reaper = 5K
Ghost = 8K
Juv. G. = 8K, but the bite damage is considerably less.
Sea Dragon = 5K, but the thermoblade is ineffective.
You need to use standard Knife, and standard knife does half as much damage as the thermoblade usually does.

Killing Sea Dragons with a knife is one of the few valuable uses of the Hardened Blade, which does 30 damage versus the 20 done by the survival knife. It can only be found via time capsule though and is the rarest item that can legitimately be obtained in the game.

That's interesting, I had never heard of this weapon. How can it only be obtained via time capsule? I thought time capsules only contained items left behind by other players, how did these players get it in the first place?

There are some time capsules that still exist from the early access period, which is when that knife was last in the game. A few of the current time capsules still have that item.

Thanks for the dets! Too bad it was removed, it would be nice to have more than just 2 flavors of knife.

Well, I'm not entirely sure, but I think there is a mod that will make it available, and I believe that it can still be spawned in.

I got mine the hard way, ... as an unexpected gift from a benefactor. ;-)

If you want, you can make a calculation of how many it pods takes to kill each leviathan.

I prefer the power of KNIFE.

Because of the power of KNIFE.

Prawn suit does not have a knife, and should therefore be parked in lava or dropped off the craters edge.

And if you calculate, these result in exactly the numbers of knife hits that I posted above.

I mean, you can just use a wiki, or you can make an entire species of leviathan class predators go extinct with a stinking normal knife.

I did not mean to be critical.
I LOVE your title, and theme.

My memory was wrong on what I had seen for the total HP / slashes needed for the Ghost. When I looked it up again, I posted the collected HP numbers.

(Be that as it may, the math that my calculator just returned indicates that a Ghost should take 200 (thermo) / 400 (standard) slashes. But I do not doubt that your empirical experience went to 250. Maybe a few were not solid hits?)

(For the past 50+ years, my proudest possession, other than my wedding ring, has been my Randall #1. I rate it at 32 HP per slash.

I think it’s weird that they programmed the sea dragon to be thermoblade-resistant considering you’re not supposed to be able to kill leviathans
dreamrider Sep 3, 2021 @ 1:43pm
They never actually said that. They just said that they didn't want to promote gun culture, at the time that they were developing the game, and that a theme of the game is that you are NOT necessarily the top of the food chain.

why murder such beautiful creatures?
