Cuddlefish protection!! help pls
so i just got my cuddlefish after hours of trying to find its egg (i kept on dying)...
I hatched it in the alien containment and I released it to play tricks with it and stuff
But I realized I couldnt put it back into the containment, and I need to go to the deep parts of the ocean (Bonesharks/Leviathans etc)
I dont want my cuddlefish to get hurt. Anyone know how to protect him while on a big trip??

To get away, the cuddlefish does not have to swim that fast , just faster than you.

I mean i found my cuddlefish egg in the mushroom forest so, seems kinda unnecessary to go all the way into the dunes to get one unless you really want all five of them.

Doesn't have a command to tell it to stay in a place? 🤔

No it doesn't, the command makes it stop following you, but it does not stay in the area and it wanders off wherever it wants to go, eventually losing the base. I recommend building a small little cave for it with the terraformer, and have a hatch in the ceiling to enter it.
I see. I guess I never noticed it was missing, didn't care much about it actually.

If you build a separate moonpool, then use prop gun (or tiger plants) to crack it and flood it. will the cuddle fish stay inside if released there? I know the game still sorta recognizes the moonpool water boundary even when the MP is flooded.

If you don't power the room, would you even need to crack it? Would it flood anyway when the oxy ran out?

For that matter, you could certainly do this with an MPR. Put in plenty of windows to make it an inside-out giant aquarium.

The room will not sink due to lack of electricity.

edit:
I made a 6-storey aquarium, maybe 7...

Never had this problem, it always seemed to stay around the base.

@Voodoojedizin:
Your cuddlefish doesn't follow you??

It only follows if you want it to. There is a command you can do, like if you want it to do tricks, or follow

Yes, it's possible to make a fully-flooded base/aquarium into which you can get your cuddlefish to follow via a moonpool. They don't really know how to swim around the corridors though, but it's still pretty cute to see them "safe" like that.
