I am planning on building a base in every biome in hardcore mode, would I have more trouble with reapers in the mountains or the dunes
This can come from personal experience or statistic facts, I wanna know which area are the reapers gonna bug me the most in.

Numbers and separation are similar. Visibility is better in the Dunes, and the ability to lure them out to "friendlier" areas for confrontation, but it is very open. In the Mountains, more terrain you, and they, can use, more compartmentation to block off your encounter from running into a 2nd reaper. Depths are similar. There are areas in both biomes that are fairly clear of bad guys (EXAMPLES: far north Dunes, NW Mountains). Feels like much of a toss up to me.

I've heard that reapers tend to patrol the surface more then the floors so if I built a base on the dune floors I don't think the reapers will bug me as much, and on the map i saw there was this cliff next to the crater's edge, I'll likely use that area as a base, I'll call one of my bases "Death Valley gas station"

Technically the mountain island is a part of the mountain biome (it's located in its south-western most corner) so by that logic the mountains will give you the least trouble with reapers.
But something tells me you plan to make a base in both locations anyway :steammocking:. So to that end the dunes have generally more areas to them that is largely reaper free.

Yes the idea was to build in both, and no i'm not gonna be cheeky and build it on the island where i'm completely safe.

Just wanted to know which place i would need a smaller base for so I don't constantly get harassed by them

If you're ok with making a smaller base the mountains offer a fun opportunity for that idea. Within the mountains are some very large cave systems that you could fit a base inside of.

Added bonuses of this idea is it makes it easier to work without meeting any reapers and the largest one I know of has easy access to a thermal vent within it.

The only downside being it's gonna be a pain in the ass getting my seamoth in and out of the caves and avoiding sammy's friends along with it, i'd rather only deal with one of those

If you're quick enough you can build right inside of reaper territory without being bothered too much. They don't attack bases, even when you're in them. I wouldn't take a vehicle. Just a stasis rifle and some batteries should be enough.

Stasis reaper,
build,
get inside,
wait for reaper to leave,
etc.

Most of the easiest ways in to these caves can happily fit a seamoth (or a prawn) and I don't know of any cave entrances that have a reaper by them. Easiest entrance I know of is on the other side of the "valley" that the huge wreck at the base of the mountain is located in.

That last point is the only reason I know they exist in the first place :steamhappy:. Even if you don't build a base there I do recommend taking a look in them.

The Mountain caves are actually one of my favorite spots for a base, and they're totally safe from leviathans. You'll hear their signature whirling sound from within the caves, which adds to the atmosphere. If you come via the Bulb Zone, you can get to cave opening without running into any Reapers. There is a lava geyser inside, which is the best spot to build, IMO.
