I really like the safe shallows and the Grassy Plateau with its red grass.
The underwater scenery is so calming, so serene. Like any beautiful reef here on earth before we started to destroy them.
"Will you flow with the current or against it?"
Then, you have the (smaller) Predators. And the Leviathans. They are nasty. But necessary for the Planets' Ecosystem.
Me as the player playing the game understood the necessity to harvest the local flora and fauna, to destroy it only for Ryley to survive and escape. It was part of the gameplay.
But i didn't like it as well. The plants would re-grow, fish would breed and keep a healthy population. But the corals which are needed for creating computer chips, they are a living thing as well and take a very long time to regrow.
Gameplay-wise it's the well-known trade-off between a beautiful untouched yet wild and deadly landscape and, as Miklkit put it, the safety and security of Ryley's homeworld (i can imagine how this world does look).
But with the tools given and the knowledge earned one / I and/or Ryley could live a good live on 4546B.
So my guess is he loves it.

As far as that debt goes, there's no telling if that number is a week's salary or 3 years salary. We don't know the economic system of Alterra. For all we know, Ryley could have made more credits exchanging his knowledge of the planet and meeting alien life and paid off the debt with enough profits left over to retire happily.
But the fantasy and dream is the main appeal. At some point, for each of us whatever that reason may be, it'll come, when we have to contact another person. Even if moral obligation to pass on our knowledge and so that the lives of the Aurora and Degassi and their families can have closure too you know?
You can go where you like, build what you like, but you're not allowed to finish the game, or start over.
Let's forgive the limitations of the game and suggest that the sea emperor is capable of conversation beyond her scripted lines and her babies would eventually grow up, if you choose to hatch them.
Even if the place and the lost civilizations which were once part of it are majestic, in a real life scenario you would not be able to enjoy any of it.
- Uh, yeah, give me a second.
.. eats a cured Peeper
- Mom's leaving like in five minutes
- Alright tell Mom I'll just take the regular [Grabs a Stasis Rifle].
- The regular?
- Yeah, she'll know what I mean.
