The lunch order conversation is from the Alterra guys when they relay the code to the captain's quarters.
But I agree, I really enjoyed that interaction. The Sunbeam crew was mildly peeved since it was a huge trek and it seems Alterra ships have a habit of wasting people's time over minor issues. But he softens immediately once he gets scans of the debris field.
As for this first post, it is possible to save the Sunbeam crew if you want to rush the game, and I usually find myself doing that now just to avoid having shot down.
