It's a really good game though, I hope they fix it so you are able to enjoy it.
In the meantime, maybe try Stranded Deep - it has a similar atmosphere, but works.
Just the normal game. I have tried everything, I'm not stupid
I was able to get around it by programming the controller to the keyboard layout - it's not perfect but it helps!
Look, I know there are some very special individuals among us gamers, the mouthbreathing troglodytes with issues far worse than having a single digit IQ, but then there is you. A person so uniquely handicapped that it defies all logic assessment capabilities. I am sheer stunlocked of what answers the questions that propose to me. As, if it is so degenerate, how is it able to write? If it can't read properly, how did it even understand what is going on here? What does it even search in a written online forum? I am unable to make sense of this riddle. But let me put this in other words you might understand:
You dum-dum.
No. Not necessarily. Subnautica has had a specific issue where button bindings do not stick if the controller is plugged in when you stay up the game. This issue has existed for forever. Unplugging and replugging the controller after the game has started forces a reload of the button mappings and solves that particular issue every time. I offered that same advice to someone that had a problem a month ago and it solved their problem and they were grateful. Not only that, but i have, myself, been having more controller issues as of few weeks ago. Controller didn't work at all or only some buttons worked. Very annoying. However, after unplugging and replugging the controller several times, the controller started working and kept working for the rest of the play session.
Well, that's great for you! But as I've already said numerous times - it doesn't work this time. Not just for me, but quite a few other people as well. And I also find it a little insulting that I get a suggestion like that. Like I wouldn't be able to figure out to try that myself. I did. It's the first thing I did. It didn't work.
Negative, switching to Steam Beta does not fix it. Nor does being on Subnautica Beta or Experimental builds.
This update to the Steam client was for a variety of reasons, and has a variety of impacts... we'll have to wait for an update from Subnautica that revamps Controller support. Unfortunately, that means the UnknownWorlds devs are gonna have some work to do, and it's not small.
They'll get there, though I suspect it won't be until Jan at the earliest.
