The types of available resources change significantly in each biome.
- Lave Zones have every resource in the game minus some of the craftable flora.
- Lost River is a series of sub-biomes that each have slightly different resources, but together have nearly everything
- Crash zone mesas are also incredibly resource rich, containing all 3 types of resource nodes, salvage metal, quartz, and table coral. You can build a nice base using just resources in that area
Most in terms of quantity:
- Dunes and crash zone on the surface
- Lost River and lava zone have a ton if taken as a single biome
Dude the Lost River and the Lava Zone are packed with resources.
If you need / want Rubies, there are only about 2-3 surface biomes to look in.
Likewise, Magnetite.
Or, perhaps so obviously it gets overlooked, Cave Sulphur. Only 1 biome, that I know of.
But you don't need a lot.
Luckily, you pretty much have to go to one or two of those places for story purposes, at (gasp, shock) pretty much the right time.
In my case, it really doesn't matter much, as several people here know. For resource gathering I pretty much have one rule:
Rule 1 - Hoard EVERYTHING.
. (SubRule 1a - Build Scanner Rooms, ... so you can hoard EVERYTHING.)
But if you take some seeds, you can have almost every resource you need in the lava zone except, some of the coral stuff, and even some of that is just above the lava zones in the lost river. table coral, iirc.
But this is a game of exploration, so it wants you to explore the map for things other than resources. Resources are a very small part of the game. I mean, resources are just for crafting only.
