Can we please stack items in storage lockers?
The amount of inventory ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game makes you waste time on is absolutely unreal. I'm fine with being limited in inventory space while exploring, but there's no damn reason I shouldn't be able to stack titanium in a container or whatever else, and no reason fabricators can't just pull from adjacent containers.

The more I play the game, the less fun I have, because of the sheer amount of inventory micromanagement I'm faced with every time I return to base. How the hell did this make it through early access testing?

Rather than a "just do it" approach i think a LOGICAL way of accomplishing the second part where it automatically pulls items out of the lockers is by giving the fabricator one of those flying robots. Similar to the ones the vehicle crafting module has and the one the rocket launchpad has. The default fabricator wouldnt have that function but give it to an upgraded one that you would have to scan/find in wrecks and they can name it something like "industrial replicator".

As for the stacking of items in lockers? if you mean instead of each chunk of titanium taking up 1 slot of its own you just have 1 chunk of titanium taking up 1 slot and anytime you add to it, it increases its counter by 1 i'm gonna say no. Its a storage locker not an MMO backpack or a wormhole to another dimension.

Your frustration is understandable and yet slightly unwarranted because you are judging an entire game, of fantastic creatures, artwork, craft, engineering, exploration, storyline and more over one minor detail.

Maybe, stacking should be done but that is up for the Developers to decide if it is at all necessary and I think if they dont want to, for the purpose of realism...because hey...items don't 'stack' in your pockets leaving you almost unlimited space to put quarters in or other things. That's what they're going with here.

Yes. It's a game. I understand that. But butchering a game over one little, LITTLE detail, when the Developers have worked so hard to get the game released in the first place, is extremely uncalled for.

Just say 'Hey, we could really benefit with item stacking than Locker Stacking all over my base, so as to save room, that'd be so great.' instead of what you've just said there.

Thanks.

Edit: I sometimes check for typos after posting so, meh.

I agree, I don't understand why they did that, it doesn't make teh game more challenging, just more annoying.
I downloaded a mod to partially solve the issue, but I think it should have been in game.

That's the whole point of the game. Constant managing your items.

- Do you want a win button too?

So, shall him also "git gud"?? jeez....

Heck, why not put a Win Button in there too? It would probably require a bunch of Ion Crystals and other resources that be hard to obtain but WHY NOT?! :P

He'd still need the same amount of resources for certain objects, which makes no difference.

Your fanboyism is showing.
u must be whinner.. cause only whinners call other "fanboy" and fck everything what they dont like with calling that "fanboyism"

in this game u need manage your inventory (small inventory) ..and then u need manage items in your base..
its too hard for u?

But he'd need less space in his base for storage lockers so it *does* make a difference. Item management isnt just about managing storage space but also floor space in your base or cyclops.

The cost of building / making something is bloody cheap , why stacking ?

The unnecessary amount of traveling back and forth isn't fun for many people. A game needs to be fun.

A stacking value of about 5 ores will make the game less tedious for many while keeping the tedious design intact.

Yah i'm sure that its not fun for a lot of people. But what i'm worried about is how this kind of change can have some unforeseen side effect that will end up making the game not fun for someone else.

IE if we're able to store more raw materials in the base how will that affect us leaving the hab to go look for those raw materials? and the one i mentioned previously about how needing less storage lockers might affect the size of a base that someone needs (due to them not needing as many storage lockers).

Allow stacking for lesser materials and keep the rarer stuff singular. You'll always have to put yourself in potential danger for the rarer materials anyway.

Titanium, Copper, Gold, Quartz and Salt mining deposits can still be found in dangerous areas. They can be found in safe areas too, just in smaller quantities and hand-pickable.

It's not logical.

Perhaps you would also desire an automated warehouse for the containers you mention with a drop off zone?

Goods in - Goods out and despatched to the construction bay as and when needed. Working alongside the Resource extractor the developers have mentioned, it would be a logical progression and allow more time for the player to make discoveries out in the field.

It might make more sense to allow us to reconstruct items and regain what was used to make them. So if you have a ton of titanium you can turn them into ingots for storage and then back to titanium when needed. That sort of thing. I always found it weird that you can deconstruct base parts to get everything back but not items.

I like that idea but let's not have too many things automated. We're not on holiday, we're trying to stay alive on an alien planet. I think if we go too far it will become a different game and besides, let the mods break cannon leaving us free to pick and choose.
