No, I use it all the time all over the place in the lost river and the ILZ. Never had a single issue, definitely not a coffin.

I think, that is a difference in the point of view :D
I like to go the pacifist-route and the prawn is very bad in staying hidden because it is loud as hell and you can not turn off the lights. I won't argue against it's capabilities in combat. But if you prefer to avoid combat in the first place, the prawn is really a bad choice. ;)

Yeah. I killed everything in my path. I find the energy juggling of silent running to be more stressful than just hopping on the back of a baby ghost leviathan and drilling its crainum.

Don't recharge your batteries in there. I played a bit in EA more than a year ago and either I forgot or there was a bug, but it seemed to me at that time that the Cyclops was like an infinite energy source. Not anymore :).
Thank you all for the feedback! But i have a question... how do i turn off Sonar? It runs coninuously for me

Oh and also fabricate the power efficiency module. It helps

You don't have to fabricate the engine efficiency module. There's one already in the game:
In the reactor room/cyclops bay of the Aurora, in the first upgrade station.

Just click the sonar button again so it turns from active (yellow IIRC) to white.

I had the same issue with the shield. I didn't realize it would just run continuously until it had completely drained the power of the Cyclops. I assumed it was a short-duration shield (based on the description), that would only last for a few seconds and then dissipate.
So am i mistaken, that the little sub with the pulsing circle to the bottom right of the driver, is that the sonar? Is it a module? Becayse I dont see a sonar button...

Best tip for the cyclops: Don't use it

2nd best tip for the cyclops: Conserve energy by turning off the lights (interior as well), and only use special features like silent running when needed.

Tip #1: Don’t use it. The only thing you need it for is the onboard upgrade fabricator if you plan on building the final vehicle.

Tip #2: If you insist on using it, running at slow or standard speeds should do you fine. Slow+Silent Running is good for keeping preds from noticing you if you know they’re nearby.

Tip #3: Don’t use it. It’s very resource intensive and way too squishy for the cost of building it.

Tip #4: For optimum stealth, turn off the interior and exterior lights. Creatures such as Reapers are also attracted to light.

Tip #5: Don’t use it. The Seamoth and PRAWN by themselves are more than capable of getting the job done with less risk of destruction due to being more maneuverable.

Tip #6: Only use the shield generator immediately before impact with an aggressive creature and immediately disable it to preserve power. I once no-selled a Reaper trying to attack from below doing that.

Tip #7: Don’t use it.

That’s all I can think of for now. :)

I think your confused about the sonar upgrade and the cyclops radar. The cyclops radar thats on your right side as you man the cyclops does not turn off nor do I believe it draws any power. It only shows red dots if enemies are close.

The sonar upgrade that gives you a 3D scan of the terrain infront of you does use power however just double clicking it will give a pulse and only use 1% power.

A lot of players like the cyclops and do very well using it. Just because you don't, renders "using it" not a bad choice.
This it not a crappy what-is-the-best-pvp-build game where all players in the top tiers use the same two equipment objects.
