[Spoilers] Are there any in-game clues to the location of a certain rare plant?
So, I know where the sea crowns are in the PCF because I made the mistake of reading about them before actually looking for them. As a result, I feel I've lost some chunk of the playable content from the game and have decided to pretend I didn't find it right below the emperor and go looking for the other ones. The problem is, aside from an idea of what it looks like in the recipe, I've been unable to find any sort of clues in-game as to where I should have started looking. Now I'm curious if there are any at all and if so, where?

If not, @Devs, maybe this is something you should consider adding because I think its unrealistic to expect people to trawl 5m over every flat surface on the map looking for the second rarest plant on the map without even the slightest idea of where to find it...

This is basically why you should scan any and every plant you come across. Just to have a PDA piece on it with hints of locations.

Sea Crown seems to be growing in all kinds of places. I know for a fact you can find some near kush things (the bulbs with bright blue lights).

But i also managed to find one in like... The Craig Fields, i beleive?

I already do that, but I've not found a sea crown in my travels before this point, so that wouldn't have helped my specific playthrough...

Nope. No clues at all. If you were thorough and explored the PCF, you'd have found them. I didn't know or think to explore it, so I spent hours scouring the ocean for them. If nothing else, this was the one thing I had to look up because I couldn't find it at all. I'd never even FOUND one in my explorations.

All the other plants, I had sitting around (I even gathered them during normal play because they were interesting!). Only the Sea Crown had me scratching my head.

That is disappointing. I have no problem with them being incredibly rare (I would have even been ok with there being only two as I read was the original population), but rare without any indication of where to find them is problematic at best, frustrating to the point of forcing people to look it up at worst...

There not that rare, SeaCrowns can be found here:
Biome
Bulb Zone
Dunes
Dunes Caves
Grassy Plateaus Caves

If you talking about the cure at the end, all the portals in the Atrium on the PCF all go to areas where the required seeds are located, there’s 4 portals and 5 ingredients, which means at least 4/5 can be found just by going through the portals. 1 portal leads to the Bulb Zone where the Crowns are located. So you don't need any special directions to it, enter the portal, swim around the area it brings you out, collect what you need and move on to the next portal
.

You're missing the point... 4/5 can be found on the other side of the portals, yes, but that 5th is a plant that is rare enough that I've not found one through exploration in 72 hours of gameplay on my current playthrough. Again, that's actually fine, after all, its supposed to be exceedingly rare and the final component of the hatching enzyme, but there is no real clue as to where it might be. In the current incarnation, you can get the other 4 components in about 5 mins, but then spend the next 10 hours driving around the map looking in every last nook and cranny and only maybe have a chance of finding it if you're not lucky enough to pass within render range...

I'm not saying there should be a guidebook telling you exactly where to find it, but perhaps a note from the pda mentioning the unknown component grows at X depth in caves or other protected areas and then suddenly you have a decent idea of where to start looking.

they're pretty rare, there's only 13 on the map. there was kinda a clue about the one in the pcf at one point while swimming around. the pda mentions plants and animals from various biomes.

The funny thing is that even the pda entry for the sea crown doesn't even give a clue as to where they might be found. Most other entries give some indication of the natural environment of the species in question, while the sea crown just says that its rare...

true, but if you trigger the pda talking about the various species living together and then see you need a bunch of seeds it makes sense to search the pcf for the things you need

That connection doesn't really work for me though, as you also have to take into account the scan of the incubator indicating that there is a special mix of circumstances that can't be calculated but that hasn't happened in the tank. Based on that, it would be logical to assume that nothing in the PCF contributes to the enzyme because it would have accidentally happened at some point in the last 1k years. The only part of the circumstance that would lead me to look in the PCF is the fact that there are 5 components and only 4 portals, so that means the 5th might be found in the tank. Still, thats a logical jump I'd expect few people to make, hence the number of threads of people asking where to find them.
