How many Purple Artifact tablets are necessary?

If you found all the preset purple artifacts in the game world, how many do you have to craft in order to complete the game? I have found information regarding the number of this item having been pre-placed in the game world, but nothing on how many you actually need.

Based on information in the wiki I have found the reported 6 of 6 on the quarantine enforcement island: 2 on pathways winding around the mountainsides outside (not including one scannable broken tablet), 1 within the caves, 2 in under water caves, and 1 inside the alien structure itself. There is also 1 on the Floating Island with the three Degasi observatory bases. The Wiki[subnautica.wikia.com] states that these 7 are all the pre-placed artifacts.

I think you need 6 for the bases. Need to craft, about 3, I think or 6 if you need to go to the santuary.

I have the same question... I want to find as many as possible so I won't have to craft them and waste Ion Cubes. Does anyone have a list of locations for the Purple Artifacts?

For the record, you can: get infinite/functionally infinite ion cubes with just one purple tablet in the middle of the inactive lava zone

-so you strictly only need one tablet before you don't have to worry about the cost ever again, if you know where to go.

If i remember correctly there are 4 easy to loot purple tablets in almost same location:
So you are at the island with alien cannon. Go to place with the forcefield and broken purple key in front of it. Go back a bit and go above the doorway, with dirt ramp on the right side. Follow the road and loot key 1). Road turns up towards mountain, follow again. You will find cave, but follow the alien lights. Now almost just after entering 1 of the caves, there was a split and there was 1 road going slightly upwards in a dark bridge. Loot key 2) on the bridge and head back down to the facility. (Or optionally if you have 1 ion cube, go forward the road and open the portal you will find.)

Now open first forcefield and go in. There are lootable keys 3) and 4) somewhere inside the facility, and 1 more forcefield. So you should end up with 2 purple keys once you leave the island. Enough to open all the forcefields in the research facility, which may give you 1 more key 5)
for free.
I have only vague memory of key 5) onwards, but i believe you only need to craft 1.

I don't think I crafted any purple tablets in my first playthrough. However, on my current playthrough I've actively sought out the two Sanctuaries, and I assume I'll probably needed to fabricate a tablet or two at some point.

I forgot you get 1 more purple tablet on degasi base on very obvious location on the other island, right inside a multipurpose room.

I have only found one of the sanctuaries so far. It was near the disease research facility. I entered the Lost River near the 500m Degasi base. The river pretty quickly forks. The right fork eventually leads to the disease research facility. A short distance down the left fork takes you to a skeleton and a sanctuary. As an FYI, the sanctuary required an orange tablet to get in. I had one, but I don’t remember where I found it. [\spoiler].

I just found the other sanctuary yesterday, in a part of the world I had never even visited on my first playthrough:

The impact crater at the far north-west edge of the world.

Requires: Purple tablet
