Can no longer activate Mobile Vehicle Bay

When I equip it, it says "Must be in open water to deploy vehicle bay!" I've tried it in the Safe Shallows, Blood Kelp Fields, and over 500m deep area in the Moutain biome. Spawning one with "spawn constructor" causes one to pop into existence and it floats to the surface, but it doesn't unfold or become useful. Anyone else running into this?

There is a way to spawn in something right into your inventory. Have you tried that? I can't remember what the exact command is....

They are retooling it so people cannot open one in shallow waters and beach their cyclops, clearly it still needs work.

I guess turning the thing so we can aim it is just too much to ask.

I can equip it, and throw it out but I can't use it. Well I can, but when I try to spawn a vehicle nothing happens. I have all the parts and everything.

The reason it will not expand when you spawn it is because it has to be in your inventory and then you deploy it with a hotkey. It's acting like you dropped it so it won't open. Try putting them all in the trash. Then use item instead of spawn or get the peices and build a new one from the fabricator. Then go to large open water and deploy with one of your hotkeys. It still may not work. There is a bug where sometimes when you make a vehicle it will not make another even if you have the blueprints and all the items. You need a new mobile vehicle bay. That could be causing issues with the new command. Maybe once you get that message it's stuck on it. So go with a brand new mobile vehicle bay in very open waters and try again.

Use the console commands with spawn (items will appear in front of you) or item (items will appear in your inventory) to get the base components/mobile vehicle bay again since this is a bug an you're testing out a fix.

For anyone else that comes along but the making of a new one doesn't work: I tried making a new one, didn't work. I just quit without saving so my resources wouldn't be wasted. BUT I hopped on another steam discussion, turns out quitting the game works.

LISTEN: I don't mean quitting to the menu, I mean restarting your game. After that it worked fine for me.

Well, my problem was just the message popping up of "must be in open water" over and over, so restarting the game helped.

This is not a common error. Note the age of this thread.

I think you problem may be specific to your game installation, or to your save game.
Try verifying your game files.
