The PDA says that the Blood Kelp Trench "matches 7 of the 9 preconditions for stimulating terror in humans"
Yet am I the only one who finds this one of the most peaceful and pleasant biomes to be in? The lovely blue kelp is appealing to the eyes, the deep and dim nature feels very isolated from anything else, and the only real threats are the occassional Warper (which can't be helped) and crabsquid which I find generally don't agro to the player easily and mind their own buisness. If I was thrust onto the planet in reality that's where I would want to live.

It's not 9/9 for you? It spooks me. Only place that spooks me more is the lost river corridor, so damn dark but then it opens out into the brightly lit skeleton chamber.

You're not wrong, no. The lack of horrible predators, pretty bioluminescent flora and the fact that the area is pretty cavern-y restricts sight lines enough that you can usually see pretty far. For the ocean that is. Sure, it's a dark and forboding color, but you can't have everything.

Now, the crash zone...

I just don't find it scary, nor the lost river. I'll tell you what I find really scary: the Dunes. So open and threatening.

How about the mountains?

Yeah, the mountains and dunes scare me. Giant open spaces with big mean killer fishies.

The blood kelp or lost river? I live there.

As far as look and feel go...the blood kelp is certainly on my top end...add in the music with the womans voice on it...to die for, no pun intended.

The scariest zone for me, is actually the safe shallows. All that life and bio diversity, just screams to my inner self, "look out behind you!"

The lost river is just probably my favorite for in game. Bright, and unique and full of "different".

Ideally, in the real world, with the alterra tech and precursor tech combined. The active lava zones. To be able to see flowing lava underwater is amazing. I have seen national geographic videos of it. Just awesome.

Funnily enough I've never actually been to the crash zone. The only time I went there was to go into the Aurora, and I didn't even encounter any Reapers that time. No idea what it looks like, never been on the other side of the Aurora.

Another thing I love about the Blood Kelp is the music, that and the Kelp Forest. Can't wait for the soundtrack to come out, it's lovely.

Not sure, have any pictures of them? I don't recognize that biome well enough to know if I've spent any time around those parts.

Big, open, large gashes and pieces of ship strewn about. Pretty much what makes the Dunes or the Mountains intimidating, and I don't just mean the Reapers. Those don't help either, though. Really I suppose they're what makes the 'vast open expanse of nothing within which I cannot see' threatening though. You know, beyond the obvious not being able to see a vast open expanse.

Yeah the Dragons are actually much less scary than the Reapers. They're slow, swim very high so its harder for them to agro you, and attack with range instead of getting in your face like Reapers do. Entering the lava zone was much scarier than actually encountering it, because once I knew exactly how the Dragon AI worked it wasn't nearly as scary. Absolutely awesome to watch though, those bellows echoing throughout...

This one might be pretty obvious, but the scariest place for me is the Dead Zone. Even though it's relatively safe (aside from the Ghost Leviathans that dwell there now), it really sets of my thalassaphobia, I feel so vulnerable down there, and like I'm always being watched. On top of that, I always feel like I'm gonna lose my bearings, not know which way is up, and get lost down there forever. Being in the Dead Zone for the first time gave me the most intense fear of my life.

WHAT ABOUT THE GHOST LEVITHAN GUARDING IT???

I have the habit of bullying the crabsquids. If you ram the cyclops into them, they die on the first or second hit.

Response to wronnie257:
Spoiler: There is no Ghost leviathan in the Blood Kelp Trench, nor anywhere "near" it. You may be thinking of the Northern Blood Kelp Zone, which is half a map away.
