The adult ghost leviathan
they should only have the adult ghost leviathans in the void, not in the grand reef and blood kelp. The ghost leviathan adult is double the size than a reaper and do twice the damage.

One adult should be above the Northern Blood Kelp Zone, another two should patrol in the open water above the Grand Reef. Then there's supposed to be three juveniles total throughout the Lost River system. (Yes, those are the adolescents.) And that's about it, as long as you don't go into the Void.

All of the ghost leviathans can easily be avoided if you know where they are.

-the first in the grand reef is located above the thermal vents slightly east of the floating island
-the second is west of the island, near the STP
-the one in the northern BKZ is on the east side near the underwater islands
-the lost river has a total of 3 juviniles, the first in the bone fields near the trench.
-a second is located in the ghost forest near the warp gate next to the northern BKZ entrance
-the last juvinile is in the new mountains connection, above the large hole leading to the ILZ
-as you enter the void, one will spawn. two more will spawn if you stay in the void for too long.

If you want to avoid them in the lost river, you can go in through the blood kelp trench. You can access the labritory in the trench by going through the deep grand reef.

I got this information from the wiki page and from gameplay on the stable mode.

So if you want to build a base in the Deep Grand Reef, below the partial "roof" that separates it from the open Grand Reef, near those thermal vents so you have a nice little checkpoint station leading into the Lost River, will that first Ghost Leviathan be able to reach the base and how much hassle will it be dodging it with a Seamoth going and back and forth to the base? I figure a Cyclops would be able to inch its way past on silentrun.
Avoiding them isn't too much conscern seeing how you can kill the engines and activate your shields and wait for them to go away or pull up silent running, shields and slow speed

Yeah but one decided to move in right next to my base ontop of the large platform in the Grand reef. Game me quite the scare on my first encounter.

I've yet to run into the ones around the island- I've only visited the blood kelp zone once though, so I can't say anything about that one.

Which also makes it twice as easy to spot and avoid.

Well, so long as the game doesn't bug out. Once had a gost disappear on me, just gone, no trace of it. Which was annoying as I was going to try scanning it when it had gotten light. Ghost indeed.
