The Aurora and Explosion Timing
Alright, so I did a bit of calulating, and I believe that 1 in-game hour is equivalent to 83 seconds. Logically, then, after hearing the Dark Matter Reactor Critical 2 hour warning, around 166 seconds (2 minutes and 46 seconds) after the notice, the Reactor would go critical, if this was completely accurate. But, on both Experimental and Stable, it explodes an in-game day later. You get the message at dawn, and the Dark Matter Reactor explodes a day later, around what I would assume is 1-2 PM. (I know this because I set a timer to determine the 166 seconds idea, using the idea from the Sunbeam counter that a day = 20 real-life minutes, since they say they'll be at the QEP in 2 days, and the timer counts down from 40 minutes.) ...It also turns out that the Quantum Detonation occurs approximately 12 real-minutes after the 2 hour message, as the stopwatch I set after the timer ran out showed 9:17 when the Quantum Detonation message first appeared, and via simple addition (2:43 + 9:17), I got 12 minutes. I can appreciate that the Dev team wants to give the player some time before to relax (or gather resources, more likely the second one), but is it just me, or is 12 minutes a little too long? Because I find that in most of my playthroughs (without console commands) I have enough resources to build a base and include basic survival equipment (such as Solar Panels, a Fabricator, and a Communications Relay) by the time I get that message, then start worrying and standing around for 12 minutes doing nothing because I don't want to be in the middle of building a base, then not having the supplies to craft a rad suit when the Aurora explodes, dying, and potentially losing everything.

(I know it's not a very interesting topic, but I feel it had to be pointed out and I didn't read any other thread discussing that)

I understand your position but for new players this isn't really an issue because they probably will not have started building a base or having any advanced things before the aurora blows. Also, I think that many wouldn't be building in the upcoming radiation zone. Most first bases are in the safe shallows.

As a veteran player one of the first things I do is make the rad suit ASAP so I do not have to worry about it later because I know whats coming. When I think about it the Rad suit and the repair tool are usually my first crafts. For new players this is not usually the case, we still get reports from people not knowing to fix their lifepod so it doesn't float away.

I also do make the Rad suit as soon as possible (well, did), but because of the unlocking system of experimental, that makes it basically impossible to make said item (only gather the materials necessary to be prepared) until the Aurora's Dark Matter Core blows. Still, I see your logic, good point.

Ah yes, i forget about the rad being locked behind the timed event but like you said we have the ingrediatns for it ready to go. Personally, i think lead is almost a little bit too common, I have so much of it lol.

A lazy answer to this could be the planet rotates faster than others.

Actually, when looking in the game console after creating a new world on a local server, you can see the message "80 minutes until the Aurora explodes."
So the Aurora explodes 80 minutes after creating a new world (You can see the time spent in the world in the main menu)

that planet don't rotate, it's geocentric model.

the sun moves across the sky alternately in two directions.
shining in one direction, extinguished in the other.
and extinguished it can also cast shadows. :P
