No it´s not like abzu. It´s like a survivalgame underwater with lots of creatures that want to eat you.

Abzu is prettier, I think. However it is a walking simulator where you can't die, and you are on-rails until the ending.
This is an open world survival game, with a more frightening environment and a lot of ways to die.

Yeah, it´s very different the more I think about it. Abzu is very much about a relaxing journey through a waterworld while subnautica is more like a horror survivalgame.
