Check inside the aurora. There's a big prawn room there. I found my only drill fragment in that room.
Also, many players have reported that the big wrecks in dunes (north-west from safe shallows), mountains (north east of safe shallows - careful with reapers there). Typically, you should just search for the big wrecks in every biome and go through them carefully.

OK, the P.R.A.W.N. drill arm has become an issue for a lot of people and you are probably going to be told to empty your entire CellsCache folder or something like that. You don't need to do that.

There is one wreck where people have consistently said they found the drill arm and that is in the second Grand Reef wreck at these coordinates: -865 -430 -1420. Go there and look through the entire wreck. Bring a lasercutter and a flashlight or a Seaglide (use with Swimcharge Fins to avoid using up battery). You will likely find atleast one drill arm fragment but that is it. You might get two or more fragments but I doubt it. You still might get lucky, though, so search the entire wreck anyway.

If you don't find any fragments or if you've only found one fragment then return to your base, exit your game, open Windows Explorer (or your Mac/Linux equivalent) and find your Subnautica game folder. If you are using Windows it will be here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Subnautica

Go into your SNAppdata folder, then your SavedGames folder, then whichever one of the slot folders your saved game data is in (slot0000, slot0001, slot0002, etc.). Find the CellsCache folder and ONLY delete the file with these numbers: 7 16 3. Outside of your Cellscache folder you can also delete the file with the same three numbers. Reload your game and type "warp -865 -430 -1420" into the console. Look through the wreck again and repeat these steps until you find all of the fragments you need, then type "warpme" to return to your base.

Hopefully that will help.

And then there is this, which may also be useful:

Just anecdotal stuff here, so take it with a grain of salt, but I found 7 Drill Arm Fragments by a wreck in my latest playthrough.

The thing is I had never seen this wreck before. I was looking for that large wreck out in The Dunes (V-shaped wreck with a cargohold in the middle) but despite my best non-spoilerish efforts I couldn't find it.

Instead however, I found a wreck that was like 3 small rooms connected together in a straight line, but the only way in was through an airduct on top. I don't think there was anything worthwhile inside, but littered about outside were all the Drill Arm Fragments I'd ever need.

I don't have co-ordinates for you, but try looking south of the Big Pit, one of a handful of landmarks out there in The Dunes.

This could be very useful. If you can, see if you can find that wreck again so that we know what the coordinates are and can tell more people about it. At this point, every bit of new information helps.

So I went and looked again. Try (-1214, -212, 8) and see what you find.

While out in The Dunes, I looked around further and found that there are TWO landmarks to navigate by: A large crater (asteroid strike?) far to the North which is worth a look for a reason, and the aforementioned "Pit" where there's all kind of flora and fauna (like gasopods) and a Cuddlefish egg right in the middle of it all.

Well, in between these two landmarks is the Big Wreck of the Dunes (-1617, -347, 93) which I had not been to previously and I had a look around.

I found ELEVEN Drill Arm fragments there.

RNJesus is having a big laugh at those of you looking for those fragments, because that makes almost twenty Drill Arm Fragments for me.

I found both driil arm and both grappling arm fragments here -865 -430 -1420
Zemecon Mar 2, 2018 @ 2:57am
People were having that issue with the drill arm quite a while ago. It has probably been fixed by now.
I always find mine near Officer Keen's lifepod. It's a landmark and pretty easy to find.
steel carter Jul 31, 2018 @ 1:21pm
I found at least 6 drill arms at -1446, -332, 722.4

Alternatively it is 300m down, 1558m from pod which is towards an E-SE direction ( so you travel W-NW to get there).

I can confirm finding BOTH drill arms @ -865 -430 -1420. First one was just as you open the main door, second one was straight forward through next door.

Guys, read the post date for this thread. People were having issues with finding the P.R.A.W.N. arm fragment back then. They aren't anymore now. No advice needed.

I can confirm finding 2 drill arms here. Finally.

And as long as people play this game, people will have issues finding things in the game.

Back when this thread was made, there was a real issue with finding the P.R.A.W.N. drill arm fragment - as in you could only find one fragment in one or two specific locations - and this was back before Subnautica was released in February of this year. The issue has long since been fixed so even though you may still have some difficulty finding the drill arm fragment it will never be nearly as severe as it was when this thread was made. So there is absolutely no reason or context for this thread to continuously be revived. You can make a new thread for it instead so that people know the drill arm scarcity bug no longer exists.
