Wonderful little thingy
I recently made an incredible discovery!

On a whim, I decided to chuck a Mesmer into my alien containment unit. I knew it wasn't a very great idea; but I was curious, especially after encountering one in the shadows of the neighborhood kelp forest.

As the days dragged on, and that stupid moon raced across the sky over and over, I would retreat to the multipurpose room with the containment unit and watch it. Not the moon. It wouldn't fit. The Mesmer.

Out of this desperate situation it seems, I have found a sort of solace. I realize that it is unhealthy, perhaps even dangerous, but I'm so bored. And Alone. But that tiny little thing. It really couldn't hurt anyone. I stared at it, face and hands pressed up against the glass, as it swam like an angel back and forth, up and down. Its beautiful form seemed to slide through the water as if it were part of a wave, producing gentle, undulating ripples of brilliant color that washed over me, drowning my anxiety and fear and filling my head with warm, comforting vibrations. It almost seemed to speak to me!

Honestly, I hadn't felt that good since I took off my radiation helmet while searching for snacks in the Aurora.

Miss my family desperately; we had such a good trade agreement. I would do anything to hear another human voice again. The module on my PDA is frustratingly silent, and the cheerful banter from my coffee machine has informed me that due to resource scarcity, every fresh cup will require immediate payment compensation. I told it to credit my account but it refused and called me a liar! What the heck. It said that I would perish and would be unable to pay the balance. So I deconstructed it. What a jerk. No more coffee bot chatter and worse, no more coffee.

Even my Cyclops mocks me whenever I board it.

I feel so tired.

But with my Little Angel, there is companionship. Hope, even. It will never charge me for companionship. What would a fish do with credits anyway?

...

Recently, my vision has become somewhat blurred, and I've been suffering from painful headaches.

But the discomfort vanishes once I return to the unit and watch it for a little bit more.

I couldn't fit my quilted bed inside the multipurpose chamber so I pushed two benches next to each other so I can lay down with my head facing the containment unit, and my Little Angel. I like watching it.

Nosebleeds have gotten much worse.

Can't leave the room.

Modified the Stillsuit to produce calories from waste.

[ Nice, is that a chapter in any fanfic you're writing or just a stand alone piece? Take some Copper ore and use it to crush up Tube Coral, Salt, and a Membrane Tree. Drink with Coffee. Convince the Coffee Machine it's more important than your PDA, those things have ego's. Doesn't block out the Mesmer's psychic hijacking, but it'll fix your nosebleeds.

Also, reading this made me draw a random comparison between Warpers and GlaDOS in this remix : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7dRrS74Vqs ]

It was just a little stand alone. It was going to be even shorter, but started growing, and I had to cut if off before it got out of control. I briefly considered a journal format with a more serious tone and elaborate development but I didn't want to spend too much time. There is definitely a lot of inspirational stuff on 4645B.

I really enjoyed that video! What a great style.

Wow, this is really good and well written, I enjoyed reading it a lot. Now I know not to stare at any mesmers, good thing I have a cuddlefish as company

Just hatch your own Mesmers, no staring problems then.

Thank you! Yes, the Cuddlefish are probably a much better idea for keeping a pet. I'd prefer a Cave Crawler though. Sure they like to nip a bit of flesh here and there, but they are so cute and I love the little chittering noises they make when launching themselves around.

I liked this story, like imagine someone else had crashed on the planet like a fourth torgal or something and you find a broken base on the bottom of the ocean with this on a PDA and a skeleton on two benches and a the rotten remains of a mesmer floating in a tank ...mesmer died after the person died because the base eventually stopped working due to disrepair/out of fuel...or maybe it´s not dead..maybe I need to look at it a bit longer to be sure...

( this is good writing by OP, deffo up to standards of what one would see in a game for real, better than many even, gave me a sort of fallout-esque comedy/horror vibe imagining what it would look like)

I have been building an aquarium at one of my bases, where I am trying to collect and breed every kind of fish.

I tried to catch an adult mesmer but it doesn't seem possible, it takes damage instead. So I assume you mist find eggs but so far I had no luck locating any mesmer eggs. Where would be the best place to find them?

Bulb Zone has alot of Mesmer eggs, in and around cave systems and more often near terrain and not wide out in the open.

I've been stocking (arming) my Cyclops with creatures that were bred 3rd-4th gen in captivity. As in, they were hatched from eggs laid in captivity, by creatures that they themselves hatched from eggs laid in captivity, that came from grandparents that hatched from eggs placed in captivity by me.

Finding different purposes for how each creature behaves and reacts different in each biome under different circumstances. Patrol, guard, defense, attack dogs, ect.

Mesmer's hypnotize other creatures. Ever Stasis Rifle'd a Reaper and released six Mesmer in its face? Cut to 4 and put a Gasopod and Ampeel in amusement.

Ever released Stalkers in the Lava Zone?

Never felt the need to release anything in the Lava zone. Usually too busy wiping the little leeches away from my cyclops and mining Kyanite with my Prawn Suit.

Experimenting in the game is a good thing and it sounds like you've kept yourself busy in the with all that activity that you described.

Well, chin chin. Do carry on with your mud pies.

I am proud of my mud pies <3

(*Has never taken his Cyclops into the Lost River or /ILZ*)

So, something quite weird just happened to me. I somehow ended up with a magic mesmer egg, that would spawn a new mesmer every time I dropped it in the ACU. Ended up hatching that egg about 20 times, now I have an army of mesmers swimming around the base.

As I understand it, if you pick up an egg laid in ACU (not placed there by the player) and pick it up before it hatches, dropping it will hatch the creature and duplicate the egg. So you can sorta clone creatures. It's like the computer box clone trick in Pokemon.
