Are gel sac spores plantable?

Research online says you can plant the spores in an outdoor planter box but I've tried and it won't transfer the spore to the planter. Other items transfer just fine into the planter. I've tried with a single space available, a 2x2 and a 2x3.

Anyone know what's up with this? I'm on Experimental, so maybe it's not working there since I see reports of it working either in outdoor planter or alien containment and neither work for me?

They should be plantable.

You sure you're trying to plant the spores and not the plant itself?


Might just be the experimental version you're on. Try verifying the integrity of your cache first.

I just tranferred some on the non experimental build 2 days ago. It should work out. Both versions of the gel sac should plant right down (the one you ut with a knif and the whole sac picked from the ocean floor) Im not certain why its not working for you :(

Yes. But like the melons, you have to knife them to get the plantable version, and knifing it only gives you two seeds/spores unfortunately. Works for me in an outdoor planter in stable at least.

Must be Experimental only where it doesn't work. I've tried planing just the spores in an outdoor grow bed and in an alien containment...simply won't let me move it.

just called "Gel sack spores"...the ones you get from knifing a gel sack.

Right, knifing is the way to go for replantables. Might be bugged currently then.

Thanks, guess it's an Experimental bug or temporary removal since plantables are a work in progress.

Found it out, you have to use an exterior planter in the water to plant it, since it is an underwater plant.

It working...of course now I have more gel sacks than I can ever use :)

Since they only drop up to 3 spores, getting a planter full of them is a bit trickier than with other plants.
