Question about Warpers.
I had my first Warper run-in today, and after I was done having a heart attack I went and trawled the wiki for info about them, because I certainly wasn't about to go out and try to get a scan. The wiki mentioned that "Warpers will start hunting you at a certain point". Does that just mean that they'll lurk around you if you get too close, or will these things actively seek me out even if I'm outside the biomes they typically spawn in? Getting stalked by a rogue crabsnake was bad enough, I'm not sure I can handle a bunch of teleporting mini-cthulhus following me around x_x

As a side note, though, I'm absolutely adoring this game so far.

After my first encounter in (I think) the Grand Reef, I always start seeing them every time I stop somewhere for a few minutes to take a look around outside my Cyclops, so it would apear so. I think you will know for sure after you start seeing them in the Safe Shallows.

EDIT: No, wait, it was the mountain biome I first saw them in. They were hanging around a Reaper Leviathon.

Oh YAY, as if the sandsharks, biters, bleeders, stalkers, reaper leviathans, and other assorted horrors weren't enough Dx I'm currently based in the shallows right next to the lifepod too. Do they show up there for you, or is it just in the deeper spots?

(I might sound whiny, but I have to admit the idea of something stalking you long distance Herobrine-style sounds like an amazing/terrifying game mechanic. I really hope they develop it further.)

Not sure. I'm on my way there right now so I will check.

I haven't noticed them doing much of anything in Experimental. Poked around in the two bases, they appaear around there but don't seem agressive. Actually managed to scan one without much difficulty. Its mostly just the other creatures that are immersion breakingly hyper agressive. those damn squids.

Yeah... :,-)

The squids... :,-)

Oh the memories... :,-)

Anyway, the Safe Shallows and the Grassy Plateaus seem fine. I think the Warpers only come after you when you are below a certain depth. And the wiki shouldn't be too helpful here with that issue we are currently having regarding creature ranges. The Warpers might not be following you at all. It may just be that bug again.

EDIT: Put a space between two words.

That's a relief, then. So far I've only run into them in the koosh zone and in a crevice between the sparse reef and the blood kelp zone, so maybe I can find somewhere warper-free to build my permanent base after all.

Try having 3 warpers spawn on you at the exact same time all shooting warping orbs at you.

Wasn't a fun time for me.

After you get over the initial shock of meeting the Warper for the first time, you'll find that they're not very dangerous. They warp around a bit and throw some kind of slow moving warp bubble at you that's easy to avoid, even without looking at it. I swam extensively between my river base and my grand reef base just with a seaglide and was able to easily avoid being attacked or hit. I got to the point to where I didn't even bother looking out for them as they make a noise. If you don't stay still, they have a hard time hitting you, so just keep on going, zig and zag a little if you like. They're really only 'dangerous' if you just sit in place.

Dont judge them by there size, if they get pissed off and you're inside your seamoth or prawn suit they will warped you out of it and directcly onto they're sycle like claws dealing 40 damage to your health if equiped whit the starting suit.

Yes, I just had this pleasure in the Sea Treader's Path biome on the Blood Kelp/Sparse Reef borders while I was looking for the wreck there and discovered some fragments on the seafloor. I left my Seamoth in glee to scan the fragments (Nuclear Reactor and Filtration System) and -zap - enter 3 Warpers, attacking me. I died 2 times (mentally a lot more) before I had the fragments scanned and was out of there. Oh the joy!

I have experienced that the Warpers get more aggressive towards you "after that certain point", including warping me out of my Seamoth and PRAWN suit and warping in Stalkers and Sandsharks but I sure hope that does not mean they will follow me around all the time some day!

I've had two encounters with the Warpers so far! One was when I was onshore but near the water on the mountain! It came on shore and hit me for 40 damage! The fact it came onshore was a glitch I hope!
The second time was in the Grand Reef biome! One minute I was in my Seamoth and the next I was in the middle of nowhere! I had to swim back to base to get the cyclops to go retrieve my Seamoth! Good times ! Lol

The Warpers are, to my knowledge, unfinished. Presently, they appear to be more defensive than anything, like the Gasopods. The idea of "A certain point" becoming more aggressive, is that once the virus is implemented, you end up getting noticeably "infected" with it, but the only real effect of this is that Warpers will only then start to attack you, and will be passive until then.
