Are the torpedoes worth using on the seamoth?
I've outfitted my Seamoth with a launcher because I can't get the perimeter defense system yet. and was just wondering if it's even worth using. I've heard that gas torpedoes are relatively useless, but I've loaded it with those to ward off the crawlers in the blood kelp and maybe bonesharks if need be. I also have a few vortex torpedoes in storage, and plan on using those later on in the game. Is it even worth using this, or should I just switch it out for a hull reinforcement and wait to get the PDS?

Vortex torpedoes are fun to use on anything smaller than a laviathain. It will fling them off into the sunset. Worth using at least once just to see that happen to a few warpers and bonesharks.
Can't remember what they're like on the big stuff.

Gas work much the same, make the bad stuff go away, but more like the knife does. Namely, if they take damage then they will run off.

I say save for the PDS for over all resource savings. And, it is much easier to aim.

With how many resources are in the game game there's not a lot of point in trying to save on things. There will always be more than you can use.
Torpedoes are fun. But the PDS is far more useful and easier to use.

So if you don't have the latter you may as well have some fun with the former. At least while you look for it.

There's a point where you eventually need to travel so far from your base into extremely dangerous biomes for materials if you use them willy-nilly. Unless you clear the cache, that's why you want to preserve resources.

Really? Which ones? Because I have to disagree.
The ones you're most likely to abuse early game can all be found in places that don't have leviathains in them, even if you go looking for the large nodes with a drill arm.

And once you have a stasis rifle, there are very few things in the water that's still any sort of threat (scary as all hell, yes :steammocking:. But not a threat).

The only one I've found a need to go into reaper lands for was quartz. And that was just because I really like building large bases. And really, really, like having them full of windows.
....All the quartz....

Speaking of stasis rifles. If you're wanting to work in one area for a while, it's better than both torpedoes and the PDS combined.
Just shoot at area of ground (or an item on that ground) where you want to do your thing and it makes a nice big zone of "NOPE!" that not even warpers can get to you in.
Just remember to renew the effect if you need more time.
