can you mod the sea truck into subnautica ?
I dont understand why had to make a new game they should have done it in some kind of addon where you change locations with a rocket or something i miss some items in below zero, which wont be added like the cyclops.

The cyclops is the reason why I dont plan on getting below zero. Its my favorite feature from subnautica and the sea truck cant replace it for me.

from some friends that got below zero, not all of them, but half of em say old subnautica is still better... below zero is way to linear and just tells you where to go and there is no open world freedom feel.. im not planing to get below zero for at least 1-2 more years... subnautica will always be number one for me... i will buy below zero for sure, but now im a bit worried il be dissapointed with it..
Below Zero in it's current state doesn't have a lot at all. In the launch we had about an hour of story (90% of which was spent waiting/farming) and there was barely anything. Half of the hours I have are just me screwing around in creative until they add more story content. So if I were you, I would wait until it's on sale or has more content. They say the latest update was major but as I see it, it's not. Two biomes, one of which was practically done, a few terrain changes and a Seatruck. Nothing else.
Using this as game review.

It is a major update because it has a whole new original vehicle. It also has 2 new creatures, which takes quite a bit of AI programming to make.

Never mind, it isn't a major update.

Maybe a question better asked on the Nexus.

ah yes

Guess I'll answer this question again

1) It must be done without copying and redistributing original game assets, so mod must handle everything at run time on a machine that has both games installed.

This is going to be spectacularly difficult to achieve, though in theory it could be possible.

2) This cannot be done as long as the games are running on different Unity engine versions which make the asset bundles incompatible between them.

So until the Stable branch of Subnautica is finally updated to the new Unity engine (currently on Experimental) no modder is going to even begin to attempt this already superbly challenging task.

what if someone makes a 3d model then prints it then makes that in subnautica?

Maybe if we had a lot bigger modding community we could pull a tale of two wastelands and combine the two games (tale of two wastelands is a mod that combines fallout 3 and new vegas)

hmmm mabey

A big reason they aren't one giant game is because they changed to static meshes in below zero. To improve performance vs the way subnautica is put together with ground that can be dug into and built up (from the age of the teraformer). It's just how the first was coded. And without rebuilding the game from the ground up they wouldn't really be compatible to be one connected game. And that's not even mentioning the unity engine versions not matching currently.

Plus the project also grew in size enough to deserve to be a stand alone. And I'm sure many other reasons only the devs know about.

Also is the fact that no modder has yet created any sort of terrain mod.
Whether it be adding, removing, or changing terrain, no one has created a mod that does this even in the voxel world of the original game.

That alone makes ideas like this:

a complete pie-in-the-sky delusion.
Clearly, this idea came from someone no understanding whatsoever of what modding this game is actually like.
Hint: The game doesn't officially support modding; Everything we do is a hack.

I just replayed subnautica 1 and honestly I had more fun than Below zero I know it's not finished but that sea truck is just boring, who needs a truck at 2000 leagues under the sea. the cold weathear is Ok, the gameplay looks good for now, but I miss my Sub :(
