Any decent weapons in early game
I know that this is a survival game but some of the gameplay elements here really annoy me. All I have for defence is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ knife when those shark like things near the starting point attack. Is there any weapons you can obtain early that can deal with them effectively?

Hm, probably the stasis rifle or propulsion cannon.

Swim up in a circle to avoid the stalkers. Same with the sandsharks. Just be careful of the bonesharks.

you have to learn to deal with minor threats like the stalkers in creative ways. don't bother trying to kill them early on. maybe distract them with something shiny? or something tasty?

I realised that this game is just not for me. I never really liked survival games but I thought that this might be the one that I might like due to to extremely positive reviews but I was clearly wrong. The constant resource gathering gets quite tedious for me and lack of clear direction is another minus. It's a learning experience and I won't ever purchase another survival based game.

To deal with stalkers (the shark like things in the green kelp forests) just smack them once or twice with a knife and they will go away.

Job done.

or throw some scrap metal (not kidding here) they are attracted to metal, so if you swim with your knife out they come for you.

Stasis Rifle + Knife = Great against Reapers and Ghost Leviathans.
Propulsion Canon: For smaller enemies.
Also, you can use the Grappling Hook + Drill Arm however that's more late game.

The amusing thing is that those two things you just complained about are two things that I've seen called out as other people's favorite parts of the game.

Swimming around the beautiful environments just gathering stuff is quite relaxing for some.

Myself and other greatly enjoyed the limited hand holding; being allowed the freedom to explore and discover thongs at our own pace without the game forcing us along was quite nice.

But hey, if it's not for you, no shame in that. Not everyone enjoys the same things.

So are you trying to say that the game might be too complicated or his mind? I mean maybe they could put it resource extractors in and then put a big bull's-eye somewhere on a map so he knows where to go to kill things? I would suggest if the game is not for him. He stopped coming into the damn Purim about the game because obviously he doesn't know a damn thing about the game.

I wouldn't be so harsh. I mean, have you seen how World of Warcraft has been for the past several years?
You can basically play that game half-asleep on auto-pilot with all the direction it gives at every step.

Some people enjoy being given clear direction/instruction at every step of the way.
Now, that's not exactly my personal taste but I'm not about to fault someone for enjoying games differently than I do.

Well I just checked his bio and apparently he owns 841 games and he's talking about a game that he actually has logged 1.7 hours in. I wonder how much resource Gathering he actually did in one .7 hours compared to people that actually played the game? Yep he needs resource extractors and fake sides telling him where to go

Take a chill pill, you sound like I insulted your mother and killed your dog. I am not even bagging the game mate, I just said that it's not for me. If you like what the game offers, good for you but it isn't my type of game. It doesn't take a hundred hours to find out whether you like the game or not.

I've been there before myself. It doesn't take me long either to find out if a game is going to be my cup of tea or not.

Cheers mate. Have a good one.

And this is a prime example of why I think more companies should release demos like they used to more often. So now your only three options are number one by the game and hope you like it because watching YouTubers doesnt tell you a lot about the game as far as the immersion. Number to go out find a pirate copy and try it and then decide whether or not you're going to support the game and I asked for not least by the game because you don't know if you're going to like it or not.
