Warper Behavior.
I've long beaten the storyline in my save file, and I've been going around the Lava Zone eliminating all the Lava Larvae & Lizards. Since the Warpers don't attack me anymore, and the Sea Dragons are long gone, it is a fairly uneventful grind. But something weird happened. I got near an infected Lava Larvae with the intention to kill it. There was a Warper close by. While attacking the Larvae I was teleported away from both. It indeed was me that was teleported and not the Larvae. I took the minor damage from the warp. Did the Warper protect me from an infected fish, or did it mean to warp the larvae away from me and missed and hit me? If it's intention was to bring the Larvae to it, then I would of wound up next to the warper, but I was instead warped away from both. It seems that whoever it targeted, it's intention was to protect me from the infected larvae. I don't often see it doing that for other non infected fish. It's very strange. I can't say for sure why the warper shot a teleport at us.

6. teleport angry things near infected anythings
7. don't care about walls, vehicles, or terrain, will warp you with a thought anyway

Their only job is to eliminate infected things, they do not protect, you simply got hit with their bubble projectile instead of the infected thing.

probably just trying to teleport the fish, i have seen wild warpers attack infected creatures before, don't know about the teleport pulling you away though. might just be a bug or disorentation mechanic of some kind
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I read about the Warpers on Fandom, they shoot these 'teleportation orbs' at something they want to teleport. The orb most likely missed the larve and hit you

i meen it might be pausible that the precursor tech in them was programed to recognise anything that could help the planet be cured...the smol emperors needed hatching and they might have known that

If #3 is accurate, I could see that being the answer. It might of just hit me by accident. It didn't seem like we were close enough for the Warper to perceive the Larva a threat, but we could of been close enough.

Reapers attack them in above zero. Just saw them fight while wreck diving. It was intense, the warper couldn't teleport it so they bit and slashed each other until the warper decided to run away.

Both kinds of sharks also attack warpers. And I think even biters do.
