Cyclops power drains so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fast!(?)
So I noticed my Cyclops power had been draining power so fast recently. After all 6 power cells ran out. I replaced 3 full power cells and kept the engine off, turn on the red light only. I was far away from my base exploring a big wreck at over 100m depth. And 5 mins later, when I returned to the submarine to replenish oxygen when I was about to run out, guess what, the 3 fresh power cells depleted again! And I died because all the systems were all off so there was no oxygen anymore. The most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up thing was that it drained 50% power after just 5 mins of staying still with engine turned off! Please tell me this is a bug because otherwise, I'm done with this game

Yeah, as mentioned above, the "red light only" is the Silent Running mode, which consumes a lot of power.
This or you ran into lava larvae before using Silent Running.

If you run in silent mode it drains power very quickly.

When leaving your sub, make sure to turn off the engines, turn off silent mode, and keep the shield off if you have that installed. Leaving the lights on is fine.

lol so the silent mode that I thought would save power actually drains power fastest??

Silent Running is to keep the rig silent, more as it normally would.
Which is why it would logically drain power to reduce noise.

I guess quite a few players will at first think that the silent running mode works like in a real sub:
Running the engine at low rpm and shutting down anything non-essential to reduce noise. So they justifiably assume that it would reduce power drain.

And silent mode consumes power even when the engine is off, which does not make much sense.

I understand they only had so many moving parts to nudge players into not keeping Silent Running on all the time.

But maybe a better way would have been to decrease the energy cost, or leave it alone, but to shut off oxygen production while it's on.
That would make sure players wouldn't keep it on all the time and ensure they never forgot to turn it off.

If you're not against using mods, consider checking this one out: https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica/mods/101?tab=files

Pretty fleshed out mod with tons of possiblities to make the Cyclops a true beast.

It silences the voices in your head telling you to not use the worthless aggro magnet.
