Cuddlefish egg disappeared.. :c

I managed to find two Cuddlefish eggs and was really exicted to have them together and maybe breed. I was going to set up a new containment unit just for them.

For some reason though my second egg never hatched and just disappeared.. I only have one Cuddllefish now and I'm honestly pretty upset about it.

What happened to my egg? Can I get it back?

I haven't tried using console before, always worried about messing with my game.

You are allowed to hatch two Cuddlefish, right? The game doesn't limit you to one?

I bring more bad news, they don't breed. Have had two in the tank for some 30 hours, still only two cuddlefish.

You probably better off letting them outside your base, assuming you're in a nice location like the shallows. You can play with them in the wild, the thing even high-fives you.

Nope, no breeding those.

There are a number of cuddlefish eggs in the game, I once had all of them in one multistory containment and never got any more.

It will be fine in the safe shallows, and it will follow you unless you tell it not to, so if you let it follow you into a dangerous area it might not survive. You also have to be careful not to hit it with a vehicle, since it will get in front of you a lot if it's in follow mode.

I have two in the alien containment, and one outside the base, in the shallows, not far from escape pod. The one outside just prances around swimmin with peepers, you can drop by and give him a cookie, he'll play with ya or even give you an high five.

Once you release there'll be two commands, to follow you, or to stop follow. Choose stop and he'll stay in that area. Once you release a cuddlefish you cannot catch him again tho, he'll remain in the wild.

I love my Cuddlefish. Hopefully he'll be ok. He does deserve to be in the wild though.. Just really hope nothing happens to him.

Does anyone know how to spawn one with console commands? I don't normally cheat but I found that Cuddlefish egg fair and square.

You know the game has over 2 Cuddlefish egg right? I think you do not have to worry if you lost 1, if you can have 4.

Well they will remain in the wild, until you leave the save

They do despawn when you leave the save for some reason

As in, leaving game and coming back the next day?

No, my cuddle has been around my base since very early in the save, and said save is about 45 hours now, hes still there happily swimming. Mighta been a bug that lost you the cuddlefish, im not sure, like OP also says (s)he lost an egg right from the tank.
