Can't pass main menu in VR?
Downloaded the game from Epic Games, game launches fine in VR, but the main menu does not respond with the vive controllers. I can use the trackpad to scroll between 'play, options, and quit' but can't actually select it.

Not with any button, not with a paired PS4 controller, nut with the keyboard or mouse. but the headset tracks just fine.

if I unplug my headset completely and launch the game to play on my monitor, it's fine.

any suggestions?

It seems the Epic Games version has a different file and folder structure. I tried looking all over for the options.bin file but couldn't find it. do you happen to know where that file would be located?

Yeah if its Epic Games and a different folder/file im not sure, the options.bin probably wouldnt work for you if its setup different. For steam its
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames\options

I launch the epic version on Vive without the Vive controllers and use a 360 gamepad. In the main menu I ave to kinda figure out, where the mouse has to be to select the options. As soon as I go into the options menu I can use the gamepad normally.

I actually ended up getting the Steam version and deleted the whole Epic Games thing. I will try the VR out shortly and report if I have any issues.

I understand the updates for VR have taken the backseat and will hopefully be updated in the near future.

I also got it on Epic and mostly play it with Oculus Rift. The Oculus Touch Controllers are semi-supported but not very well and only as a game pad (no tracking). My solution has been to use my Xbox 360 controller, which to me is the best compromise when playing standing and using the head tracking.

But beware, VR support is generally half-baked and has several very old bugs that they obviously have no intention of fixing:
  • The tablet opens in-your-face making it annoying to use and hard to read.
  • Forget about subtitles as they are placed at the lower edge of the HMDs panels. If I move the HMD to an unnatural position I can almost read them. I turned them off...
  • Some in-game menus (like in the Scanner Room or the Cyclops) may be very hard or impossible to select. The workaround is to use 'Gaze Based Cursor' in the controller settings. Some things like keypads may still be slightly off, though, forcing you to offset the click a bit.
  • When docking a Seamoth (or Prawn Suit) into the Cyclops you are kicked out and the cyclops is blasted away to a random location - sometimes close by, sometimes far away, sometimes up in the air... The workaround is to dock "backwards" and as soon as you can see the docking starting, you exit the Seamoth. You'll be in the water below, but the Cyclops stays.
  • When docking at a Moonpool the world is tilted. This is quickly fixed by opening and closing the tablet.
  • There are problably several others I've either forgotten or haven't stumbled into yet.
  • Oh, and I just read that F2 (on the keyboard) reset the view. This is relevant for eg. piloting the Seamoth. A different solution is to make sure you stand in the middle of your play space (or whatever position you'd prefer) when you start the game. This will be the "seating position" in the Seamoth, etc.
