I have No Man's Sky and it is similar to Subnautica but the biggest issue with it is that it is all RNG based. You may need to go to 10 different planets to find the material you need to build one thing. Also, unlike Subnautica's very specifically placed items, enemies, and zones, No Man's Sky can sometimes make you feel like you are running in a circle constantly needing to craft the most basic things over and over so that you can do some more advanced things, only to need to refill the basics, to go to more advanced, ect ect.
Again, it is like Subnautica, but way less thought out and optimal.
Thanks for the suggestions. If I get desperate enough I may try Stranded Deep, there are some mechanics of it that I have been hearing about that sound ridiculous for no reason.

Forest is creepy at times with all the locals
Conan is pretty fun but not really for kids
Ark is well established lots of expansions and you can tame, ride and breed dinosaurs.
Green Hell is also pretty good. Kinda like the forest.
I installed it once but I didn't play it. I will check it out. Even the premium edition or whatever is only like $3.
Never even heard of this game but I looked at the store page and I will give it a try. Everyone is calling it "Subnautica in space" so hopefully I feel the same way.
Yeah I redownloaded NMS and played it last night. I got the game when it came out and it was lackluster and boring, but when I played it last night EVERYTHING was different. Also I looked at some of the screenshots and you are right, the water areas look JUST LIKE Subnautica I was almost shocked by how similar they were.
There is so much in NMS now from when I first played it that it is almost a little overwhelming. I feel like I need to get out a notebook when I play it and take notes on stuff because there is so much you can craft and so many elements that I am going to forget everything. Plus the trading system is super advanced.
I am going to need to watch gameplay for these three games. I have known about them all for a long time but I never played any of them. All three of these games kind of strike me as the "only fun when you play with friends" type.
I might try Conan Exiles but I think it is more multiplayer focused and I remember hearing if you are not in a guild or something that people can just run up and destroy all of your stuff. That I am not to thrilled about. ARK is also heavily multiplayer, again I may try it but I feel like ARK is at the end of its life cycle.
It's a voxel world, so you can destroy/remake the terrain and it has story/lore and a very satisfying crafting progression. Still in Alpha, but very stable, with a large group of modders already making content for it.
I looked it up. It looks like a 100% ripoff of Minecraft.
And it looks nothing reasonably like Subnautica
Well, then you didn't look very closely. It's a block voxel game inspired by Manic Digger, the same game that inspired Minecraft. Nothing is new under the sun. Everything is a reimagining of something that came before. Oh, and it's coded in C#. Superior performance to MC.
