is the cyclops useless?
What do you think about cyclops?

It might not be the fastest or most agile, but there's no better way of moving tons of resources, transporting your prawn suit, and never having to return to base ever again. It's complete freedom.

never actually build one

Useless for what?
A screwdriver is useful tool, but it's pretty useless if you are trying to cut down a tree.

The cyclops is used as a mobile base, where you can build storage, growbeds, fabricators, even build beds. So you can work for a long time at the deepest biomes. You can't even finish the game without actually building one, as you need the shield generator to escape the planet.

It may not fit all the playstyles but it's far from useless.

For me the Cyclops is very useful and - most importantly - a lot of fun to use. Others may have problems driving it but I really like steering the sub through narrow passages driving across leviathan terrain using silent running etc.

Very fun sub.

Getting the Cyclops to the Lost River through the Blood Kelp trench is kind of tricky, but there are no leviathans there.

Absolutely not. It serves as a mobile base and gargantuan resource hauler. I'm using it right now to support building multiple outposts around the map that gather energy and scan for materials. I do not intend to leave this planet. I intend to colonize it, and for that the Cyclops is essential to moving the material needed for multiple research outposts, high rise apartment and office complexes, and large agricultural industries. I also seek the revitalize the ecology of the planet by seeding desertified areas with artificial growbeds filled with flora and fauna bred in biocontainment research centers.

This planet is mine to abundantly fill with opportunity for life to flourish, both human life and indigenous animal life. The sky is the limit. (Actually my GPU is the limit, and making cities tank my framerate horrifically.)

Well it's awesomely fun, and games are about fun. I never build one in replays though (or a prawn suit for that matter). Two air tanks and a seamoth is enough

A port of call – home away from home – for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanderers.

Are you kidding me? I don`t think I could play this game without the Cyclops. It`s mobile and allows me to stash everything thing that I find. And I mean EVERYTHING. I`ve got it lined wall to wall with lockers. I`ve got two wall lockers for every material. I`ve got a grow bed for food and water. Everything I could ever need is in my Cyclops. The best part being that I can take it all with me.

The Cyclops is great. You take your supplies, resources, and crafting table with you wherever you go. It’s like, ‘My base is awesome ... but what if it could move?’
miadel Jan 16, 2020 @ 3:31pm
I found it clunky and fairly useless, even aggravating. I finished the game without ever building one.

You can't finish the game without building one, as you need the shield generator.

lol You can't beat the game with a Seamoth. They can only go max 900m.

... well you can swim the whole way, no need to have any vehicle except the cyclops for the shield you need for the rocket. (Theres a speedrun with arround 90 minutes)

If that make sense to heal yourself all time from Heatdamage... no idea.
I would prefer the possibility to find a surviving gurl i can marry and stay with her on the planet. Leviathans > mankind
I would never deactivate the gun(s) i guess
