Ending Question, spoilers obviously.
Where do the Sea Emperor Babys go? She says they are swimming to the shallows and I followed the last one through the gate, but aside from the enzyme floating in the water the others were gone and the last one just swims in circles around the gate. Can you find the Babies in the wild? Do they go to the safe shallows or do they despawn?

You can find them out in the world as juveniles rather than babies. But not in the safe shallows.

They can be found one each in:
Crag Field
Dunes
Grand Reef
Mountains
Northern Blood Kelp Zone

Before the final release come out and there was no rocket to escape the planet I hung around in one playthrough after doing the enzymes and releasing the young.

Once when a very long way to the north of pod 5 in the seamoth I discovered a full grown emperor leviathan. It was just swimming around and paid no attention to me at all.
If it was one of the babies or not I don't know, but it did seem to early for one of them to have fully matured.

It only happened once and it was a long time ago now. But I never hang around in a playthrough long enough anymore after releasing the babies to see if it's still in game.

That was one of them yes. It was them as juveniles so they are much larger but not full grown exactly. (Though it is a fast transition. Maybe because the devs don't expect you to find them right away? Dunno)

It was the only one I found. It was the only mature Emperor I'd ever seen outside the containment facility.
