Bug? I can't make benzene even though I have blood oil

I'm trying to figure this one out for sometime now. I went to the blood kelp got blood oil and even planted a few back at the base. But I can make benzene because the fabricator doesn't have that option yet.

I guess this is a bug because I just read in the wiki that I learn the blueprint when I pick blood oil. Does this mean that I'm stuck? I can't make upgrades on prawns or get grappling arms!

open up console and type spawn benzene see if it gives you the recipe after that.

Using those commands disables achievments.

I don't want to disable achievements. Let me twiddle around a bit and see if I can kill the bug. Something tells me I'll end up restarting the whole game! I've reached so far... :(

Did you SCAN a blood oil pod? Perhaps that is what gives you the blueprint?

I can't scan it. No scanning interface available...I can pick it up but can't scan

What about scanning the blood root or blood kelp?

I figured it out! It's a bug. Apparently if you pick out the blood oil on the sea floor or those attached to rocks or something it won't be counted. You have to source it from the plant itself! Pluck those lil red bastards from plant and you have your blueprint

Thanks!! You guys answered my question. I was having the same issue. I picked it off the wall or sea floor so I didn't have the recipe/blueprint. It was showing up in my list of things blueprints, but when I went to the fabricator it wasn't available there. (Yes I had three of them). Cheers. this game is ridiculously fun. Just with it was co-op/multiplayer.
