Best "food" for bioreactor?
Is there a difference in what i put into the bioreactor, in terms of how much energy will i get out of it?
On one of my bases i built the bioreactor and several lantern fruit and chinese potatoe plants to feed it, but it seems that even putting the max allowed 4 fruits in it doesnt last long.

Is there something in particular i can grow to feed my bioreactor with better results?

thanks in advance!

They also are afraid of light, so farming a bunch of them in an alien containment inside your base keeps them in a state of perpetual terror.

This is probably what makes them such effective compost for the bioreactor! They're literally nightmare fuel!

Edit: Reactor will first use 2x2 fuel, even if you put after fishes.
I would upgrade peeper or reginald to occulus when you get the tech to breed them. 420 and 490 to 630, respectively and they can easily be found (in big quantities) in the jellyshroom caves.

O je, I find that fish, it is bioreaktor king :).

I currently use Creepvine only because I have quick access to it on my exterior growbed, but fish are the best imo.

Filling bioreactor with alien feces and farmable stuff worked pretty well for medium base, paired with few solar panels.

Not an answer to the actual question, but a note: depending on how deep you are it's often less hassle long term to build a solar spire. Just a big stack of vertical segments with one piece at the surface festooned with panels.

How is it possible that that has never occurred to me? I'm stupid XD

I've always used the lantern tree for simplicity sake. always tons of fuel available even from just one tree.

I don't even use a containment tank for fish, I just throw a grav ball out and go harvest them when I need fuel. Granted my main base is in the shallows so fish get caught in it all the time.

If your base is in a less poplulated area then you will need the tank or growbeds.

Maybe avoid making eye-contact as you pop it in the Bioreactor?

Make some windows and maintain eye contact with the other cuddlefish you have while you put one in.

Then tell them there is only room for one on the escape rocket, give them all a knife and sit back in your observatory. I think they will be smart enough to get the idea.
Getting Dark Knight vibes, and loving it.

Meh, they don't reproduce.

Thanks guys!

From the redit page someone linked before (thanks):

"Energy values for edible plants moved from 254 to 305. Marblemelon lowered from 550 to 420. Chinese Potato lowered from 375 to 140. Lantern Fruit from 325 to 210. Gel Sack went up from 100 to 245. And Koosh Sample, Bulbo Tree Sample, and Blood Oil are all up from 75 to 420 like Marblemelon."

It seems that if using plants you can also eat is the idea, Bulbo tree and Blood oil are the best bet.

However, they still use a 2x2 space. So considering using fish (no! i wont disolve my cuddlefish into energy! hehe), according to the same source:

"The highest energy per inventory space went from the by-far reigning Reginald at 1100 to now Oculus 630, Reginald 490, Eyeye/Garryfish/Peeper/Red Eyeye/Spadefish all at 420."

So it seems growing those Oculus fish is the way to go.

My primary base in safe shallows is powered by solar panels (a ton of them) and runs fine, but my second base in the north-east limit between mushroom forest / mountains is over 250m deep, so i went with the bioreactor, and i just recently added a couple of thermal generators. Now it seems i dont even need the bioreactor, except if i put a lot of cells to charge.

I had also considered a nuclear reactor (ibe never built one), but building those rods, then disposing of them seems like too much trouble.
Truth is i only need a single room for some storage and cell chargers, and a scanner room to find goodies with ease. So no much need for a lot of power.

I was working on my 3rd base in grand reef, 360m deep near a cluster of those little "volcano" / geiser heat things planning to use thermal generators, but as i was building, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, piece of ♥♥♥♥, bastard, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, sack of ♥♥♥♥, deuchebag ghost leviathan showed up, and trashed my seamoth, killed mmy cuddlefish, beat the crap out of me, and nearly destroyed my cyclops. I was barely able to escape.

I dont know if he will continue to spawn there, because if ihe does i will have to build the base somewhere else. Do they attack bases too?
