"Storage Solutions"
Just built my PRAWN drill arm and my first Cyclops, and after getting aquainted with the layout and everything I'm beginning to equip it for a deep dive so I can explore the lost river. Meanwhile, I'm struggling to keep my lockers organized, especially since the amount of any given resource I have on hand (especially minerals) can vary between a whole lockerful to none at all, depending when my last mining trip was.

Often after a good mining trip I run out of space in whatever locker I 'designated' for a particular resource and just dump the extra in whatever locker I have space in just to clear my inventory and PRAWN storage for the next trip. It's just that I'm getting tired of searching one locker after another to find what I need all the time.

I'm strongly considering a dedicated locker room since right now my lockers are just wherever I had space at the time to build them. (Though I make a pont of keeping raw material storage next to my fabber to save time.)

Any advice on organizing storage space? (Location, how to split the various resources between lockers, etc.)

I usually end up making a couple rooms full of lockers and dedicating each to a specific resource. You can label the front of the lockers so you know whats in them

Ah yes, take away the lockers and subnautica lasts for 1 hour ;-)

I built a hallway lined with wall lockers, and labelled each according to the resource I was putting in it. I messed up though, and only made one locker for each resource. Sometimes I need more than one locker for each, so I'd recommend building at least 2 lockers for each resource, and labelling them appropriately, of course.

Might seem like a lot of work but it really isn't. I built a hallway with both sides lined with lockers very quickly. They are also very cheap to build, requiring 2 titanium each.

EDIT: The only problem is reorganizing lockers you've already built with an assortment of resources in them. The game doesn't really have a quick way to swap materials (like shift+click or something).

That sounds like a lot of storage lockers. Just counting mineral resources alone, that's around 16 types of mineral. I already have a dedicated fish locker too. And one just for salt (and purified water I made from it. And the one on the upper floor between my growbeds and my Bio-Reactor for organic stuff. And I'm thinking designate a few just for processed materials and other stuff. (I'm never going to have a full locker's worth of say, computer chips, since I only fab them when I need them for a recipie.)

Right, it's best to start with storage management straight away, rather than sometime later in the game. That way you can build your lockers as you need them. You don't literally need a locker for each individual item. I usually just have a seperate locker for the different types of ores.

For survival stuff (food, water, first aid), I make the larger locker (that can't be labelled) and stuff it all in there. Same for tools and batteries and such.

Line em up in the Cyclops along the walls. I have the same issue with moving stuff around but it aint that bad.

Do categories instead. Metals/ores. Plastics/Rubber/Aerogels. Tools. etc. Then just have multiple lockers for each category... works for me.
