Fishing
There are fish everywhere in Subnautica. This is the future. However, the way to get fish is with your bare hands (or gloves).

I know there is the Grav Trap, but it has a somewhat small range and is automatic.

First of all, a floating platform would be helpful. It is crafted with 3 Silicone Rubber and 1 titanium. It is in the deployables section of the fabricator. You need to find two fragments, which are found randomly in Safe Shallows wrecks.

Also, a fishing rod would be helpful. It is crafted with 3 titanium, a battery, and a wiring kit. You use it by throwing it in the water and it attracts fish. Once they get close enough, they get sucked up. You can pull it out of the water and collect all the fauna.

There's no to any of this. Once you get an Alien Containment tank, which won't take too long and is very easy to buid, any other means of catching fish becomes pointless.

True, but I got my Alien Containment like 6 hours into the game, and this is a very early-game item.

Or you just get some Lantern Fruit, Chinese Potatoes, and maybe Marblemelons.

True, but it's like very early in-game, like before you have a seabase.

Isn't the fishing rod already like a gravtrap?

You can get those as soon as you leave the lifepod...

Yeah but, knew players don't know about the floating island, and need the scanner to unlock the interior growbed, and then need to build a seabase to place it there.

Fishing rod, meet propulsion cannon. Bye, bye fishing rod, you're no longer needed.

It's like a grav trap, but with better range and you can grab the fish right out of the beam.
