Ive also knifed the Stalkers and attempted to get them to drop teeth, no go.
Back in EA, I never had a problem seeing or fetching them. But release? It seems they blend *too* well, and I had similar problems to yourself.
All I can suggest is :
1) circle around scrap metal. Stalkers will drop teeth when they pick up scrap metal. And they're hoarders - I found 3 or 4 stalkers all picking up scrap metal and then dropping them *in the same place* in the kelp forest. A quick scout around the piled up scrap netted me some teeth.
2) Make the scanner room HUD item. This will require some magnetite, which you can get from the Shroom cave. Once you have that, wear it and all the stalker teeth light up like little christmas tree lights! And they *do* exist... but even with the HUD on, and swimming over to the area I had trouble seeing them and just clicked on 'where the highlight was' and.. there it was.
I'll give the HUD a try, but as ive stated before, i even used a camera (moving it within 1m of the object and pointing at it with the lense so i know EXACTLY where it is) and despite that, i cannot actually SEE the teeth.
Maybe having the HUD similar to the camera will help, but im quite sure its not just a matter of me finding them.
Yup. I'll not debate this with you. I did exactly the same thing. And also had similar problems. I gave in and made the trip to find some magnetite for this exact reason...
The HUD though.. made it easy-peasy. Sometimes it highlights teeth I can't see. I *still* can't see them when I'm ontop of them. I just click where it says and a tooth appears. Kind of annoying, but yeah...
teeth falling through the terrain isn't really the sort of difficulty increase I was expecting for launch.
hope for the best with scrap and diving under stalkers looking for teeth as they drop is how I gotta deal these days.
