So i was playing subnautica like you do then reading an abandoned pda in wreck 9 Second Officer Keen doesn't want to save the degasti he says that we will shut off the scanners if they find anything so they get their free lunch with the captain. BUT! when a crewman says say see an energy signature he tells him to shut off the scanner. I think its hinting to the precoursor gun aiming to fire. Thus. killing. everyone. But do you think?

I think they would have been shot down regardless, it was already too late by that point since they were attempting a slingshot maneuver around the planet and probably wouldn't be able to escape orbit in time no matter how many alarm bells are going off. Same as with the Sunbeam.
