Where to find Nickel Ore in the Lost River?
I have been searching around the Lost River for Nickel Ore to upgrade my Cyclops and Prawn suit, yet I can not seem to find any. Where would nickel most likely be found there?

I believe its about 1,200 meters down, in the acid (or green glowy stuff) all around the skeletal remains of the massive levithan class creature.

Lost river.

if you entered via the Grand Reef cave with the Degasi Base with the orange tablet in the long cave that heads towards the precursor cache , theres a load of it on the cave walls, i found about 10 pieces between the drop from the reef to the cache it can be tough to see, its well within seamoth depth range

Look carefully around areas where tree roots meet cave walls.

He's right; you can find nickel there, but it's very hard to see; you need to get right up to the wall before they become noticeable. A picture is worth a thousand words: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1651980674
Hug the cave wall, paying special attention to places where tree roots emerge. Don't give up; they are not common, and easy to miss, even if you know exactly what you are looking for. They can be found anywhere between the actual point where the roots emerge from the wall, all the way down to the acid line, so search carefully.

Special caveat: Don't get so absorbed following the cave wall that you wander into the main cavern area and get nom'd by the Ghost Leviathan that hangs there. Not that that ever happened to me... twice..

Lots of rubies, and the occasional bit of quartz, too.

It's even easier if you have a prawn suit with a drill arm. You can find deposits at just under 600 depths. See this video for an example:
