Are Fragment locations randomised?
Or are they just placed in a way to piss people off as much as possible..

Want that last PRAWN drill fragment? LOL! Have seven propulsion arm fragments instead.. Hmm, bad luck. Try the next wreck.. LOL! Have an additional 5 torpedo arm fragments to your collection. So on and so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ forth..

I cannot tell if you are being remotely serious thanks to the lol and censored word. As such, this is not a helpful reply.

I will second the OP's question: are they randomized? if so, which ones?

A few are randomized between a set depth. Most can be found in the 300-400 depth range and are randomly shuffled around. You need a seamoth w the mk1 depth mod from the Aurora to get to them.

Thanks! Now I know where to look next. Would the modification station be one of those? I've got quite a few BP's that depend on that one. (fins, improved depth modules, etc.)

Yes and no.

The spawn area will remain the same - in cargo boxes, scattered around wrecks etc, however the fragment type could be different. Each location will have a set list of fragment choices for RNJesus to pick from and each fragment type will have a set list of locations it might show up in. There will always be enough fragments to scan for the blueprint but some playthroughs will be luckier than others and you wont have to work as hard to get them.

Databoxes always hold the same blueprint and always show up in the same spot. Some other fragments (prawn for example) show up in the same spots each game for story reasons

If you get stuck on a particular item, the wiki is pretty good for finding all possible spawn locations for a fragment

I have found alot of modification station fragments so far.. Memory is vague, but I seem to remember alot of those fragments in the red grasslands and around the NW mushroom forest.

I was sorta... making fun of the OP.

I found most of my frags from wreaks w just the seamoth w the mk1 depth mod. So keep looking around and find every life pod too since those can provide data cache.

Thank you. That's a really helpful answear.

So it's safe to assume it's just bad RNG and not a poor design choice that I have found around 30 PRAWN arm fragments so far but only one of them has been the drill piece I really want?

I think the prawn parts are in the wreak left of the gun island. Inside the wreak that landed between 2 floating islands underwaters. There are lots of bone sharks.

Been to large 'U' wreck in the underwater islands and the other huge wreck near the cannon. Had no luck either place. Every fragment was either propulsion, torpedo or grappling.

There are 2 wreaks near the gun, 1 left of it that is full of bone sharks. 1 right side at the bottom, near the island and warp gate. You have dodge warpers and 1-2 reapers.

Was nearby and decided to check out the coordinations.. Finnally found the last piece I needed buried in the sand, wicked awsome, thanks.. Had to flee the area pretty fast though as the Warpers was kicking my ass all over the place.
