Thermal plants not giving power to bases.
I have 3 thermal plants 1.5km away with power transmitters leading from them all the way to my base. But they will not supplement the power I already have? Whats wrong?

The power transmitters can be a bit unreliable sometimes, sadly. You might have to deconstruct/reconstruct them until the energy line leads directly to the base.

I have done that, but when I deconstruct an energy line i have to deconstruct ALL of them as the new one doesnt want to attach to the old ones.

Well... Maybe it has to do with the distance? 1.5km seems like a pretty long way.

thermal are not rly that good, once u get some stuff going in ur base they will suck the life out of them faster than they can give power

Best I've seen is either build the base near the thermal vent so you do not need the line or do not touch the line at all and just keep adding more. Both has their ups and downs.

I have 6 solars and 1 thermal, and my base has never run out of power.

Thermals are as good as solar since they both give pwr infinitely. Currently, the regeneration of pwr is equal to the drain of 1 water filteration. Unless you are building a bunch of stuff, you rarely burn pwr like crazy.

Please get back on topic. Do I need the transmitter hooked up to something at my base? Put a transmitter near my base and it will give power or what?

You just need a power transmitter within 100 meters of your base and the energy source.

BUT

When you drop the power transmitter, before building it, you have to make sure that you see the line that reaches from your power transmitter blueprint to your energy source. Once you put it down you should then see the power line that goes from energy source --» power trans ---» base

They're a bit buggy, even with a clear line of sight it can take a while before you have the right angle.

Sometimes the line displays when constructing but when construction is finished the line vanishes. Also once a power transmitter does redirect the power to your base properly, the connection which was working before might not be working later. They are definitely buggy. I'm not sure if having several bases causes this because I didn't get this bug before I built a second base. If you see the power lines connecting then it should definitely power the base. But as mentioned before, be aware that this connection might break (due to a bug) later even if it was working before.

Uh What if that power source is 1.6km away? Can't I chain multiple power transmitters? Thats what I was doing. I even made sure that the blue line didn't go thru any hills the 2nd time around.

I've had moments where I have power and then when I come back the power is gone from my base. It turned out that a platform I made with foundations interfered and stole the power instead of it being directed to my base.

Here's a few thing you should check Vancer:
1. Check that the thermal plant itself is in a suitable position. The display of the plant should be over at least 40.C
2. Make sure you have a transmitter close enough to the thermal plant istelf.
3. Go and check every single transmitter in the chain and make sure their a blue line connecting all of them
4. Make sure there are no isolated base pieces that are stealing your power line. THIS ONE IS VERY IMPORTANT. If you have a foundation that is closer to the final transmitter than your base, it will steal all the power and because it's not connected to your base. I had this happen when I built a landing platform for my PRAWN suit below my moonpool. When I built the foundation, the power line that was initially going to my base switched over the foundation instead. If that happens get rid of whatever is stealing the power.

Yes you can chain, just gotta make sure that blue line is drawn when you build the transmitters.

Turns out I just had to reload my save. The blue line is connected to my hatch now. Weird...
