The music
I popped this in the bug forums but didn't get any replies, so maybe not a bug or nobody really cared that much, so figured I'd pop it here and see if I could get any confirmation.

Does anyone else find the music sorta just cuts off or fades out without reason? For instance, there is a track that sometimes plays when I enter my base, catchy tune, but it only lasts for about 30 seconds and then just silence. Other times I'll be doing things in the deep sea, music will play for 20 seconds and then its silence again.

The track that plays isn't on the soundcloud (for the base) and the other tracks available are all much longer in duration than any music i've heard in the game so far. Seems a shame as there is a great soundtrack for this but I never really get to hear any of it.

I read that this was a problem a year ago as well and they were meant to be fixing this?

I have this issue as well involving sea bases. No idea if it's intentional or not. I know that in your base it's usually very quiet with no music, just that odd ambient noise. However, I don't really hear music cutting out. It does fade out after a few minutes or so but I do enjoy the entirety of the track.

Though I absolutely HATE it when it's absolutely silent, it turns night time, you're on track to a general location, then you hear the reaper's cry...
I think these are intentional and I like them. I think they are intentional in that, continous underwater victory music for 5 minutes could bore the player to death. Now I love the music choice included in this game, but it would get old fast after a continous play for 10 minutes. What you described happens to me too, I don't think it's a bug.

Also I remember several times the following happened: It's sort of sunset, I set out from my habitat, music starts playing, things are good. I swim to my seamoth, music is still playing. I get inside my seamoth start driving it. I go a couple of ways, music fades, silence, and then reaper cries. Piss ma pants damn, but I love it xD

Totally agree that 10 minutes of victory music would be overkill as well lol, but I've barely heard more than the first 30 seconds or so of most sountracks before they fade out or stop. Even when I set the sub on fire, I got the fire music but as soon as I activated the fire system the music basically stopped.

The music that plays when I enter my base (that isn't on soundcloud), I've literally just stood in position to listen to it incase it is stopping due to me moving or doing something, and the same issue happens, just fades out after 30 seconds or so. Maybe it is literally that track but it feels more like it is building up to something bigger, very much an anti climax in terms of music if that is the case lol.

It is hard to give a clear example of what I'm on about without making a video, perhaps i'll do that at some point and then it will be much easier to say 'yup, totally normal' or 'nope, I get to listen to this in fully glory'.
Yeah actually I think mine last around 30 seconds too, and at first I felt that anticlimatic feeling you described. Maybe I got used to it.

Are there other versions of these songs in soundcloud? Like longer than 30 seconds? I was going to say maybe they are composed as only 30-second pieces.

you should have it on steam even, hover over the library along the top and go to music

Thank you! I didn't know this :steamhappy:

Also didn't know this! Thanks!

Track name: Into the Unknown - 3 mins long. 100000% never gets to play the full track in game. Listening to it now, it cuts off around the 1 minute 20 mark, fades out at that point.

Some tracks are like that in the OST. Simon didn't do much with fixing up the songs and basically took them as they are from his Soundcloud playlist and put them in the folder. My Ultimate Edition OST that I've shared over the years and is finally complete, in a semblance of play order as well, corrects those issue since I volume/bass balanced all of the tracks, added fading out on the songs that needed it and put additions on the titles to show where they play. I also have five tracks not available in the officially released OST folder. Unfortunately, the devs told me not to share it anymore, which is very strange considering there are a bunch of YTubers that have fully shared the entire soundtrack, so I don't see why I can't?

Yeah I was listening to Crush Depth which is a chilling creepy 2 minute track but I am only familiar with the first 30 seconds or so. So you must be correct sir. Maybe there is a mechanism or something that cuts the music after 30 seconds during gameplay.

I have the same problem from time to time.. 'Crash Site' is one of the tunes playing at my base, but for some reason it's often cut short like you describe. 'Lava Castle' on the other hand always plays out in full lenght though and still give me creeps every time. Guess the game got a sense a humor ^^

I have noticed some songs are biome specific. If you change location, or enter your base, they stop or fade out. if you stay and just float around the same spot, they keep playing.

Thought that as well, which is why I literally stood still and didn't move when music began playing, it made no difference sadly. Done this on multiple occassions both inside the base and outside. It just never finishes an actual track.

Would be nice to get a dev reply here to confirm if this is intended or not.

As a side note, the track I was on about (into the unknown) anti climatic ending entirely. First half catchy tune, remainder is general ambience music really :p

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
