Does a book have a story?
It's one of the big strengths of the game and why I bought it in the first place years back.
Just be aware that it's not as polished as it should be for a "launch", and the crafting is "Gets the job done" grade. There is only one basic room for your bases in the game for example, and it starts out locked. You can't stack materials. etc.
The emphasis is on the fact there is a real story and you swim around looking at the high grade art design.
The crafting/survival elements are very secondary. But sounds like that won't be a problem for you.
