APEX PREDATOR
So, who is the apex predator of this planet...........

Is it the terrifying Reaper......
is it the Ghost of the ocean...
or is it the humongous SeaDragon...
.
.
.
.
.
.
Nope, not anyone on that list...
It is the small, fragile, lone human, with Stasis Rifle and Thermoblade.

When you get your gadgets nothing can scare you in this planet, at first I was scared to even venture near the Reaper infested zones, but now I already cleared the mountains of its four Reaper Leviathan and in the process of clearing out the crash zone already two down. Now the reapers seem like a joke.

Even when I only had the seamoth, going near the Reaper to poke it was fun, because it will only chase you for few seconds then completely forget about you, this severely reduces the fear-factor, upon which the total hype of the Reapers is built on.

My opinion ---> The Reapers should be changed from a territorial type to a chase, evade and nocturnal type monster that will chase and try to eat the player if the player has, unfortunately, came into its view or hunting ground. Some Reapers should also roam the ocean and not particular biomes.

Yea, but also more dangerous and with a long attention span.

Be careful what you wish for, I recall having (3) Repear Leviathans in the safe shallows, back before they had working leashes.

Lol. At least there are plenty of hiding spots in the shallows, as long as the reapers don't swim through the ground

None to be honest, I have only met the Reaper so far but from footage on YouTube or twitch, it seems like most of the creatures are easy to either avoid or dodge pretty easy. I'd say that the Warper or Mesmer is more of the sea boss, most of the bigger ones can also be avoidable by staying behind something and well, it wont get you :)

Well, Make Reapers Terrifying again!
In their current form they are only terrifying as long as the player doesn't have any gadgets. After that their terror hype dies very quickly. It's almost disappointing that they have to depend on the environment to remain scary (crashzone), today they are nothing as advertised

they are also a trap to ppl who don't look around when they know they can spawn around them

Well you can always hear their roar.

I've not had much trouble with the mesmer near-ish the starting area. SUre it's annoying but it's also easy enough to get away from once you get used to its status effect...unless you're in a realllly narrow unfamiliar cave passage, but warpers are worse in that regard, they'll rip you right out of your ship.
RetroRun Feb 2, 2018 @ 12:11am
Yea I agree the warpers are much more trouble than reapers or even the seadragon, they just rip you out suddenly, their danger factor is way more than the Reapers.
Fenfen Feb 2, 2018 @ 12:12am
Warpers become a right joke once you have the repulsion cannon. The only thing I get worried about is Lava Larva because getting those latched onto your Prawn while you're swing around like spiderman can quickly leave you in a bad spot. Besides that my only worry is the Great Noclip Reaper Levithian. No amount of gadgets will save you if that devil snags you from under the terrain.

Note that "apex predator" doesn't necessarily mean you're a steel-toothed blood-lusted killing machine, it just means that nothing else eats you.

There are species of grenadier fish that are apex predators in their habitats, and pretty much all they do is just pick up the snails and shrimp that don't run away.
