Blood Kelp

Weird question. I was exploring the edges of the grand reef to the right of the ship. I remember finding the beginning of the blood kelp region but was not equipped to go that deep etc... Now I have a cyclops and wanting to go explore it, but I cant find it again. Anyone know where its at in this area (forgot the direct, but if you are looking at the crashed ship and then head right.)

yeah I hit that area but cant find the blood for the life of me now. Is it further right of sparse reef?

Blood kelp is in two zones. One, a very deep area southwest of the lifepod, before sea treaders/grand reef. Two, directly north of the lifepod with extra danger.

So if Im hitting the grand reef i've probably gone to far then. Hiting sparse, then grand. Maybe need to turn around go past sparse heading toward'ish life boat

Sparse Reef borders with both. Just go into the Sparse Reef from the Grassy Plateaus, turn right at the sinkhole and wreck, and you'll find a direct entrance to the Blood Kelp Trench.

what is important in blood kelp? I dont know almost nothing about subnautica, I need to know and how it looks.

Blood kelp has blood oil, which is an important crafting material for some higher-end items.

Anyone know if there's a way to grow it domestically? Bit of a pain to go get more repeatedly.

I know you can plant blood oil as if it was a seed and it will grow a blood vine. I can't remember if that yields more oil or not. I think it does

Exterior Growbed - plant the blood oil in it (I tried it as an experiment and lo and behold it worked!) - the blood kelp that grows from it produce 4 blood oil pustules at a time and will continue producing it if you harvest them.
