what should i do if i get infected?
how to cure myself?

Curing the infection is part of the story, you only succeed at the end of the game.
As the previous posts said, you can take your time without worries.

The infection doesn't start a timer. The more you progress in the game the more infected you'll be. Until curing it.

Just play the game, make sure you read the PDA to understand how you can cure it.

I'm locking the thread because of its age.

You go though the story.

Don't stress the infection. Enjoy the game, and explore, and you'll find the cure eventually :)

You are stranded alone on a hostile alien planet. You have an infection that will likely kill you, possibly in a painful way. Rescue isn't coming to you. There's only one thing to do.

Just remember to cut down the road, not across the street.

lol literally yesterday was looking at guides to cure myself, found nothing and shrugged. it's story (semi-spoiler) found a data log where a survivor talks about being infected too and stuff

To those that care to be spoiled on the infection: It's not an actual threat, it's just the game trying to make you think you have a time limit to pressure you., it never actually causes any harm or death to the player no matter how long you wait, and only progresses through certain story based events. There are story reasons for why I think this is the case, but you can figure that out on your own. :D

The infection is merely a plot device to "force" you into following the story and give you a goal. The disease doesn't actually do anything to you. At the end stage you'll see green blisters on your hands if you don't have on gloves but that's purely cosmetic and doesn't actually cause any trouble for you. You can completely ignore the story aspect and just explore for 1000 hours and nothing will happen with the infection. It's progression is directly tied to your main story progression. As you get further along the story, the infection gets worse, but like I said, it doesn't actually do anything bad to you. You can progress the story to the point where you're in the green blisters stage then completely ignore the story for 1000 hours and be fine. The infection won't kill you. It won't even hurt you.

Not "if" you get infected. It's "when" you get infected.
