Did the map change a little after the last update?

started a new game after the last update and can't help but notice the map looks a bit different

My map mod stopped working. There might be some truth to this.

Could you elaborate? I doubt they would change the map geometry due to the risk of actually breaking something important somewhere.

Not sure if they changed things but you do start at one of several random locations in the safe zone, this can make it a little harder to get your bearings early on as what used to be just say south of your pod is now west Ect depending on where each spawn point was.

I figured that might be playing into it. There were a bunch of little things as well especially around shallow's volcano but this was most likely just bad memory on my part.

The map its self has not changed in a months, its a static map, all thats different is the starting locations, theres several set starting locations all within the safe shallows, after about 5 miniutes of swimming around you will recognise where you are.

The drops of fragments and scrap and items is different each time too.

well for the 1st time ever my moonpool wants to face a different direction.
not sure if that has anything to do with it

Depending on how long ago you last played, it's possible. One of the caves that led to the JSC I used to build my base over is now just a regular cave. I don't think there were any major changes, but some little things like that are different.
