Building a base without legs
Hello everybody,

I was wondering if you can build a base without there are showing legs. And I mean the legs under the construction.

Because I saw some really cool pictures of bases who are just like floating in the sea without foundation or legs showing. I searched allround allready but didn't find anything yet. Does someone know this?

i think if you build it high enough the legs will etiher despawn or not show at all, sometimes the game glitches and no legs apear even when only a few feet of the ground.

I was wondering about this too
Thanks

Without foundations, the base integrity is low. If you build a large base without foundations, the integrity shrinks so low that the base begins to spring leaks, even at shallow depths, and you will have to repair the leaks after raising base integrity with some foundations.

Begin by building a temporary base piece that has legs and use the verticle connector to up to height you want the base. Build your base layout you want then delete the vertical connectors and starting piece that's touching the floor.
Presto, floating base.

You do not need foundations for a large base.
I found foudations are only for early, when you get Reinforcement... Thats like +7 per wall...

Id would not advice building mass foundations unless you want to redesign everything later since it locks off alot of space for multi layerd rooms as well as really not being enough for a big research station type base.

4 foundations around... Ill take a pic...

Is enough for a starter base.

0 foundations, well actually I think I kept my starter 4.

Anyway, ontopic...
Struts wont spawn if you build high of the bed, this can be done on the side off a ridge, ontop of a standing collum... You then remove the start piece, if you really want? Im pretty sure it works.

You can build that starter base I have up there ontop of a thin standing collum you find all around the starter spawn. So your only legs would be the center piece, and pretty low to notice.

Foundations do prevent legs from appearing - and give your base that nice flat surface to build external growbeds and lights on. People seem to hate them, but if you want to build a little platform sticking out from a cliff out over a vast empty space, you could use foundations.

Do note you have to build the foundations FIRST, otherwise you can't build them when the legs appear, especially Moonpool legs.

Also yes, rooms built high enough from the ground won't have legs.

It all depends on how you want to build your base.

Start whit legs, then just build on top and destroy lower structure till legs gone, now you have non legs hight.
