Yeah marblemelons are the way to go too, for me at least.
They are the best source of water with some food, the lantern is the best source of food plantwise, and doesn't need to be replanted . .but doesn't give you much water . So I start with the marblemelons then finish of with the lantern fruit . Sometimes I throw in some bulb tree too lol. Potatos haven't seemed worth the trouble, though I have one on my sub. Hardly ever touch it.
