Just got a Cyclops, but I’m afraid to take it anywhere!
Hey, so, I just got a new awesome Cyclops, but I’m afraid to take it past 100m... Before I took it super deep and it almost got torn apart by bone sharks... any ideas?

What a mistake, all these complaints I read were outdated or just untrue. You can go anywhere in the Cyclops and you are very safe. Only in the Dunes and few other places with lots of Reapers you have to be a bit careful, which basicaly means either: use shield a lot, or just don't stop near them and keep using decoys. Use silent running all the time & pack a lot of power cells. That is it. And I'm not even squidding.

Yes, you just need a sonar to navigate properly in the caves, and the module that lets you recharge in hot water is also very useful.

Dont park next to bone sharks, maybe?

Add the upgrades. Bonesharks shouldn't be able to do much damage to it in any case, I've not had the same experience although in the Prawn they are annoying

I didn’t go near the bone sharks, they came at me while I was driving it to the Floating Island.

I just did a lot of exploring round there in mine, they weren't a problem, I've got the basic upgrades on so not sure why your's are causing such a problem, have you tried using the decoy torpedoes?

Yeah. Just installed them, took care of a few stalkers.

Any advice when I take it down to the Big Cube Research Place in the Lost River?

Ok might be a glitch on yours, I'd think about sending some feedback ingame to let the Dev's know but I'm taking mine down to 900+ and Lost River etc and only have issues with Leviathans for the obvious reasons. I can usually survive those attacks without too much damage so not sure why the Sharks are ripping into your's. Just for info I only have the Defense Shield, Fire ♥♥♥♥♥♥, Engine Efficiency, Depth, Decoy Tube and Sonar Upgrades on so nothing unusual

Yeah, stay low, once you get to the Cache your pretty safe, the odd crab squid might show up but they aren't too bad, any power drains will come back on after a second or too and if they are really persistant go out in the Prawn and drill them. Once in the Research Facility your safe from attacks and also in the Cove Tree area so it's just between them that you see the Ghost. I tend to wait til I can see it, go low and make a run for it and so far it's worked. Take a repair tool, get to the safe zones then repair :)

So I should bring my Prawn rather than my Seamoth?
Sconkel Mar 8, 2018 @ 4:54am
yep seamoth max depth is 900, facility start at about 900 and goes down to 1700 :)

Maybe the seamoth is enough for the resarch but then you have to return to base for prawn all time .. i learned that lesson also the hard way .. ^^

Alright, one more thing for you guys, where the heck is the entrance to the lava area where the SPOILER: sea emperor is?

The most bottom. 1400m. You'll need the Blue Tablet from the Thermal Plant though. (Actually you'll need two of them, so remember to scan it first.) (I'm assuming you've found your way to the ILZ, there's entrances to the Lost River in pretty much every biome deeper than 400-500m and that's a straight shot to the Inactive Lava Zone as long as you follow the brine flow downwards.)

I built a scanner room in the Lava Castle and used the drones to freely scout ahead and also to mark my path. This is borderline vital for getting out because the Lava Lakes are fairly samey and it's easy to get turned around.

The best path I found was left out of the Lava Castle's entrance and hugged the ground until I came upon a pit, then I followed the lava flow in the pit to the Lava Lakes. Once you make it there the PMC should be freely visible. Note that I'm pretty sure you can fit your Cyclops through this pit, but I don't really see much point to doing so. There's a sea dragon in the Lava Lakes and nowhere to hide a Cyclops from it.
