A sea dragon in the Dunes?
So, earlier today, I was in the Dunes trying to scan a reaper. While I was watching it, waiting for it to swim back closer to me so I could take a shot with the stasis rifle, I would swear I saw a sea dragon farther off behind it.

I was a bit confused, since I thought sea dragons were restricted to the lava zones.

So, I'm curious whether anyone else has seen this. Is this supposed to be able to happen? (I mean, sea dragons ostensibly hunt reapers; so, it would be consistent with the lore.) Is my game bugging out? Is my brain bugging out?

Seems like a bug. Unless it was a reaper? (or ghost leviathan, if you were close to the edge.)

I have a base in dunes right in the middle of a reapers "patrol" area. I built it there to observe him as he hunts the sand sharks and wrappers. I spend a lot of time there, and ibe never seen a sea dragon arround.
So i cant tell you with 100% certainty it cant happen, but ibe never seen it.

If you see it again, please take a screenshot, it would be awesome seeing a dragon outside the lava areas!

I mean, last I checked reapers and ghosts don't have a bunch of tentacles at their rear ends...

I just wish I'd thought to grad a screenshot for confirmation.

Not a reefback either?

Definitely not a reefback.

When I initially saw a second shape, I figured it was another reaper. I mean, there's no shortage of them in the dunes. But, I would swear I saw tentacles and generally the overall shape of a sea dragon, as well as sea dragon-like movement.

Well, that leaves two remaining possibilities, warper and the sea emperor . But I'll be more inclined to say its a bug of some sort.

Did you finish the game already? Get cured? If so then it's not a Sea Dragon. You can hear those a mile away.
Parlyne Mar 7, 2018 @ 7:12pm
I'm basically finished. (i.e. I'm cured and could step into my Neptune and leave now if I wanted to.) I'm just going around and doing some additional stuff for the hell of it. (Also, this isn't my first play through.)

You mean once you get cured you can see adult size emperor leviathans arround the map???

When i finished my first playtrough i dint spend much time on planet after getting cured, had i known i would get to see adult emperors i would have stuck arround longer!
Andrewbh2003 Mar 7, 2018 @ 7:34pm
that might have been one of the juvenile sea emperors then if oyu finish the game and free the 5 juveniles they go to different areas 1 in the north blood kelp 1 in the grand reef 1 in crag field 1 in mountains and 1 in the dunes what you saw might have been a juvenile sea emperor in the dunes its not as big as the one in the primary containment facility but then again there juveniles and they both share tentacles and similar shape so yeah either a MASSIVE new bug yet discovered or juvenile sea emperor

Yeah. It's the babies all grown up. Not mama-sized yet, but pretty damn close. Whatever they've been eating is really good for them.

They won't bother you. Do them the courtesy of not bothering them, but feel free to swim by and say hi!

There is a bug where the aggro of creatures don't turn off for some time, so it's possable that you aggro a seadragon and he kept following you to the dunes.
