Ghost Leviathan Locations
I read that there suppose to be two Ghost Leviathans spawning in the Grand Reef. On my first gameplay (about 120 hours in) I always saw only 1 down there.

Later I decided to make a base there, but while building it, the Ghost Leviathan clearly did not want me as his new neighbour and kept attacking me, so eventually I lost it and killed the poor thing. I though it will respawn quickly.

Many in game days later, he still has not respawned. I went all around the map doing stuff, reloaded the game many times, nothing.

So how exactly does this work? Anyone knows the exact spawn location for Ghosts in Grand Reef? Why there are none ghost leviathans in the Grand Reef, when they suppose to be 2 in here?

Thanks

As far as i know there is only one in the lost river by the giant skeleton, and leviathans when killed stay dead, never saw one respawn

Accoring to wiki ( http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Ghost_Leviathan ), there are 3 Ghost Leviathans spawning, 1 in northern Blood Kelp (the only one that is remaining in my map), and 2 in the Grand Reef. Like I said, I always found only 1 in the Deep Reef, and after killing it, there is nothing.

I was pretty sure leviathans respawn, like everything else? I read many posts talking about it, even mentioning that there is no point in killing leviathans because they will respawn so soon.
But mine has not. Is it possible that everything I read was outdated and they don't respawn now?
As far as Ghost Leviathans go, two open water biomes contain two adults, and three juveniles are located in three enclosed sub-biomes. The adults are located in the Grand Reef and the Northern Blood Kelp Zone (which will not respawn if killed), and the juvies are in separate corridors of the Lost River (Bone Fields, Ghost Forest and Mountains Corridor), which also don't respawn once killed. The juvies are smaller than the adults, but I don't know if they also do proportionately less damage.

Apart from those very specific Ghost locations, there are also adult Ghosts that spawn once you enter the Dead Zone, or Void. The first one pops up after 30 seconds in the Dead Zone without turning back, and every 30 seconds after that a second and a third adult spawn and attack in unison with the first one. Once you leave the Dead Zone and get back to a biome, they despawn.

Is there some reason for not killing them that I don't know about? have I got to rethink my murder plans?

Well I built a base in the Grand Reef just for the purpose so I can hopefuly observe those majestic creatures from the inside. It is great irony that I actually murdered the last specimen while building said base, and I deserve to live with it for the rest of my life. Now the Grand Reef feels dead to me. I will have to move to the Dunes to make some new friends.
